While Lesane was at home, Aaliyah went to a party with a boy she met. It was his party. He didn't get into the stuff they were doing, neither did she. She actually wanted to leave.

"Raymond?" She walked over to where he was sitting.

"Wassup?" He smiled at her presence since this was the first time she even talked to him all night, "Are you enjoying the party?" He asked as he stood up from the group of people.

"Yeah. It's hot and all but my brother not gonna like me out this late." She said knowing if either O'Shea or Lesane was home, they'd be up her ass for being out.1

"Oh. I understand that. You need me to walk you home?" He asked and grabbed his jacket but Aaliyah stopped him.

"No, it's okay. I got it." Aaliyah declined his offer. His parents found her unsafe because of her mother's background. She didn't want anything to happen to him.

"Come on. You know I'm not gonna let you walk alone." He chuckled and grabbed her hand and walked her out the party and they began walking.

"Why do your parents think I'm unsafe?" She asked him and he sighed.

"I'm not sure. I think your perfectly fine. Your fun, pretty and intelligent. I really like you." He explained. making Aaliyah blush.

"I don't care what they think of you. They not dating you..it's weird to think about." They laughed. Aaliyah caught onto his statement and looked at him, "But, your not either.."

"We can change that though." He pointed and nodded. Aaliyah timidly but her lip, "Yeah, we can." Aaliyah smiled.

They began to walk in silence but it was loud enough to hear each others thoughts.

"You ever dream to move away?" He asked her.

"Yeah. I wanna move back to Brooklyn with my dad. I haven't seen him in a while." She shrugged. "What about you? Where you wanna move to?" She asked.

"Philly. I'm trying to pave a career for my self, you know?" He nodded before asking, "What's your future career?"

"Truth is, I haven't figured it out. I wanna be a writer and go to college but sometimes I think of the negative before the positive." She grew mellow at her last sentence.

"See, that's where your going wrong at. You gotta turn a blind eye at the negative. My uncle always told me to never focus on the negative because it's always a positive to a negative." He explained to her.

"He sounds like a good man." She pointed out but noticing his body language change.

"He was. He passed away though." His smile dropped making Aaliyah grow sympathy.

"I'm sorry to hear that, Raymond." She frowned.

"It's all good." He shrugged.

They grew in silence once again.

While the two we're walking, they walked past a pitch black car that soon started up and trailed behind them. They didn't pay to much attention to it but did take it into mental caution.

"You should get on the right side of me so you not walking to close to the road." He grabbed her and moved her over.

"Where you learn that?" She laughed.

"TV." He laughed with her.

Little did he know, he made one of the smartest decisions to move her over. They made it to her house and stood in the front of it.

"Thanks for walking me home" She smiled.

"Your welcome. Your people home? I don't want you to be here alone." He looked over her shoulder to see if anyone was home.

"Yeah. My brother is here." She pointed to O'Shea's his car and he nodded.

"Call me?" He made a finger phone.

"Yep." She nodded.

Before he left, that same car stopped in front of them.

"Yo, you Shakur lil sister?" The man asked.

"Yeah, why—"

Before she could finish, the man pulled a gun out and let go rounds. Raymond got pushed her and took 3 of them into his chest, stomach and leg. They sped off and Aaliyah stayed under his lifeless body.

"Raymond?" She croaked through tears as she looked down.

Everyone came outside including O'Shea and when he saw her, he immediately ran over to her.

"Aaliyah!" He yelled as he ran to her aid and got her up off the ground.

"We gotta call 911!" She sobbed.

"Come on, Aaliyah!" He yanked her arm to pry her off of his body.

He knew that if she stayed there to long, they'd think she did it.

Someone called 911 already. It didn't take them long to come. Cops filled the road along with blaring ambulances. They called his family and they sped over there and noticed the white sheet covering their sons body. The cops held his mother back as she sobbed, pleading to see her son.

They put him into the ambulance and drove him to the hospital.

He was DOA.
