I walked through out the isles scanning for what I can cook. I rarely even cooked but today I felt in a cooking mood. I picked up a few boxes of pasta because nothing can go wrong with pasta, right?
I chuckled at my thought. Just to think this is the first time I smiled today.
"Excuse me." A male voice from behind me. I moved over and he walked past me but stopped
"Don't you live at 2003 Monroe Boulevard?" He asked.
"Yes." I responded
"My name is Lesane. I see you and your daughter leave every morning." He said and shook my hand
"Janet." I responded blandly as I shook his hand
"Smile, You to pretty to be looking sad." He said and it made me chuckle cause it was so corny
"I'll see you around, Janet." He smiled and walked off. Something about him was...different. He seemed like a nice guy, kinda cute. I brushed my thoughts off and went to check out.
"Will this be it?" The young cashier asked
"Yes." I responded. I paid and grabbed my bags and pushed the basket into the return area and walked out to my car. I sat my bags inside and got inside and started my drive home. This is probably the only time I'll go out. Between Aliegha's cheerleading camp on weekdays and work, This is the only time I'd get alone time.
I got out my car and grabbed my bags and keys and walked inside the house and as soon as I walked in, the phone rang. I groaned and put my bags down and answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hey Mommy." Aliegha's voice rang through the phone.
"Hello Aliegha." I said as I let the phone rest on my shoulder so I can put my stuff away
"Mommy, I'm hungry but daddy and Naomi are asleep." She said
"Make a bowl of cereal or something, Aliegha." I said blandly
"If I make myself a bowl of cereal, then I'm gonna have to make Nicky one too." She said referring to her step brother
"What's wrong with that, Aliegha? If your gonna make yourself something to eat, the least you could do is make something for him too." I explained to her.
"Okay." She said
"Why are you cooking for yourself anyway? Go get your father up and tell him to cook." I said
"Can I just go to the store?" She asked me
"No, I'm not letting you walk to the store. I asked you were you hungry this morning and you didn't answer-"
"Because I wasn't hungry, Mommy!" She whined
"Well I don't know what to tell you, Aliegha." I mocked her
"Fine. When my ribs start showing cause you won't bring me anything to eat, I don't wanna hear anything from you or daddy." She said and it made me laugh
"Alright." I said
"Bye, Love you." She said
"Love you too. Call me before you go to sleep." I said.
"Okay." She hung up and I put the phone back on the hook and began cooking
