Janet sat in the Rite Aid parking lot looking at all the people go in and out. She didn't know what to do. She had never bought a test before. Aliegha was just off the head.
She pulled herself together and grabbed her purse. She got out and walked inside and went straight to the back where the isle was. There was so many to choose from.
"Why do they have so many?" Janet thought as she looked.
As she sat there, she thought of something. She grabbed 2 of the most expensive and began walking to the front. She couldn't even look at the cashier in the eye as she scanned it.
She gave her the total and she payed with the crisp $100. She grabbed the bag and her change and began walking back. She could help but think that it wasn't so hard...As she drove home, she gave Monica a call so she could come over. She looked at the bag more than she probably looked at herself in the mirror. She didn't know if she liked the thought of being pregnant again.
As she pulled in, Monica's car was sitting beside her parking spot. She parked and grabbed her bag and got out. Monica did the same and walked over to her.
"Wassup J. What's going on?" Monica asked. "I'll tell you when we get inside." Janet walked up the stairs and Monica followed behind. She unlocked the door and went inside. Throwing the bag on the table, she went to the fridge to grab 2 water bottles.
"I need your help." She sat them down and looked at Monica who was visibly confused.
"With?"
"I need you to take a pregnancy test just incase mines comes back positive." Janet said. Monica looked at her like she grew 2 heads. Janet realized how stupid she sounded when she said that but if she had to beg, she would.
"Why would you be pregnant?" Monica asked. "That's what I'm saying but Joseph is set on the thought that I am so he made me buy a test and my job is on the line." She sighed at the thought.
"How is your job on the line?" Monica continued to ask questions. Janet knew she couldn't get mad of all the questions so she just answered them.
"He told me if it comes back positive, I'll lose my job. Which is why I need you."
"Okay....well..get your happy behind in there and take the test." Monica grabbed the bag and threw it towards Janet. Janet grabbed the test and walked to the bathroom. Her nerves were skyrocketing but, she pulled herself together and did it.
When she was done, she washed her hands and took a tissue to grab the test and walked out.
"Now we wait." Monica said, "So..if it does come back positive — which I'm not hoping of course." Monica reassured. Janet stared at her with an annoyed look.
"I can be the god mommy right?" She asked. Janet rolled her eyes, "I don't care."
"How long does it take?" Monica asked. Janet picked the box up and read, "30 minutes with accurate results."
"Well, give me some info. What made him think you were?" She started back up with the questions.
"After the meeting was done, I got sick. He called me a drunk and told me he knew I went out with Lesane. Of course, I protested against it and gave him a recap of my night and he gave me that look." She explained, "That look he gave me when I didn't feel well after Malcolm stayed over my dorm. So he fussed and gave me money and told me to go buy the test."
"So your night, you and him had sex?" Monica asked and Janet nodded, "Wow. Did you not use protection?" She asked another. Janet didn't say anything.
"But it's too early for any signs of pregnancy. It hasn't even been 24 hours! I just did it with him yesterday so why am I feeling signs? I could just be sick from the food." Janet pouted. Monica watched her bestfriend ramble holding in her laugh,
"Well we can solve this. Did you use protection the first time?" She asked. Janet thought and when she did, she realized they didn't.
"Ding ding ding. You could've gotten pregnant then."
"It can't be. I've only had sex with him 2 times." Janet shook her head. Monica laughed, "That's all it takes! J, there could've been a mini you or mini Lesane brewing and you didn't even know."
"But I had 0 symptoms up until now...It can't be right. I refuse to believe it until this thing tells me." Janet pointed. Monica let her think what she wanted.
As they waited longer, they talked about anything. Just regular girl talk at most. After a while, they looked at the test.
"You wanna look?" Monica held it after she looked. She kept a poker face to not reveal.
Janet nodded and grabbed it.
