I stepped out the shower and grabbed my towel. It's been a while since I've been on a date..It's weird. I've been on many dates but they were always so boring..I guess because my dad was a Preacher and a Lawyer, boys were intimidated by me. I chuckled just thinking about it. I picked out a regular outfit and shoes and looked in the mirror. I never really wore my piercing a lot because I felt like I was getting to old for it. I put my clothes on and went to the bathroom to do my hair. It was a lot I could do with it but I always chose to put it in a high puff. Never really found time to be exotic with it but to dye it.
I never wanted to be in Law. Probably a Teacher or a Nurse for the Airforce..I had dreams but knowing this family, you can't have many. Do what one does or don't do anything according to Joseph's words. Mother and Joseph don't have a stable marriage but they seem to always be together. They aren't affectionate. At a young age, I was a little fast but hated sex. I got older and grew to want sex..Maureen said it comes with age and I'd grow out of it but it's not normal to want to have sex but at the same time, I always shoot anyone down that tries it with me.
My thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
"Come in." I sighed and looked at the time.
7:55pm
Time goes by fast. I started to get even more nervous.
"Hey, I was just coming up to tell you that we're all going out for dinner. Enjoy your date and be safe." Maureen smiled.
"Stop, It's not a date." How could I say it was a date in my head but be to hesitant to say it's a date outside of my thoughts?
"Okay, Have fun on you 'Date but no Date'" Maureen playfully rolled her eyes and chuckled. I said goodbye and she left. I grabbed my purse and walked out my room and downstairs and immediately, butterflies filled my stomach when I heard a car horn. I took a deep breath and walked out. I walked to his car and got inside
"I got you this." He pulled out a singular rose.
"Thank you." My cheeks heated up as he drove out.
"Sorry if I'm a little early. I had got the times mixed up." He said as he kept his eyes on the road. I could tell he was nervous and truth be told, we were both nervous.
"Oh, your fine." I let out a nervous chuckle. The whole ride was awkward. I just looked out the window as the sun slowly set. I wanted to loosen up but I didn't really know how to approach him. We pulled into the line and waited.
"You cool?" He asked.
"Yeah, just a little nervous." I tugged my ear
"You haven't been on a date, have you?" He chuckled
"No, I've been on dates. Plenty at that.." I looked down at my hands.
"I used to go on them when I was in Highschool but they weren't like this..this setting." I said referring to the drive-in"Oh so..they took you on boujee dates?" He laughed.
"Yeah." I softly laughed with him.
"I've never been to one of these before so I thought it would be kinda fly." He said as he pulled up some more.
"Have you been to one before?" He asked.
