At Home.

The house was quiet. Nothing but the television running and the light snores of all the girls. For the first night, no one was outside being loud. The street was completely stripped from pedestrian. The only thing invading was a cop on graveyard. Riding the road over and over.

Janet began to shift as her dreams tore her apart. When she couldn't take it, she shot up with tight eyes from the bright tv reflecting onto her. She sighed and turned it off. Now the house was even quieter than before. She looked at all the girls who were each on a chair. Looking at the cable box, she read the LED lit time.

2:47 A.M.

"Is he even home?" Janet spoke to herself before standing up and going to the back room to look if he just went to sleep. When she opened the door and saw the bed was left the same, still fixed up...

Her eyebrows furrowed as she walked out. Stumbling into the wall as the darkness filled the hallway, she made her way into the kitchen and picked the phone up, dialing him.

The ring tone went on for what felt like forever before it went to his full voicemail box. Janet's worries started to increase when she sat the phone down. She leaned against the counter and got trapped in her thoughts.

She could've been standing there for ages at thought. Thinking about anything that came to mind. The quiet setting swallowed her making her thoughts run lose in her mind.

*RING RING RING*

The phone rang making her jump. She picked it up with a startled tone, "Hello?"

"Wassup J." Lesane's tired voice came through the phone. Janet was unfamiliar with this tone. It sounded weak and half alive almost.

"Lesane? Where are you? Are you okay?" Janet asked worried, "I'm cool, J. Just trying to get home, that's all...everybody good?" He asked. Janet looked at the sleeping girls with a eased smile, "Yeah. After they ate, they showered and winded down. They were out in a hour at most."

Lesane chuckled, "Why you awake?" He asked, "I had a nightmare...I was about to go back to sleep but I realized you weren't home yet." She mellowed. Lesane was quiet on the line.

"I'm about to pull up." He said before hanging up. The bright headlights invaded the darkness before being shut off and a car door echoing. The sound of keys clicking against eachother and the doorknob twisting, the door opened and Janet was met with a tired eyed Lesane. She has never seen him move so slow. It worried her.

"Are you okay?" Janet walked towards him examining him. She turned the light on and looked at him and his attire. She didn't notice anything out of the ordinary.

"I told you I'm good." He spoke in a annoyed tone and walked past her; down the hall, into the bedroom. Janet followed him and closed the door behind her. She watched him take his t-shirt off, biting the inside of her cheek. She looked down at her feet while her back was against the door.

"Where were you?" Janet asked in a low tone. Trying not to let her irritation control her volume.

"I told you I had to run errands Janet. Why you sweating me?" He slightly raised his voice. Janet, still keeping herself contained, took steps towards him, "That could mean anything Lesane. Running errands and coming home at 3 in the morning?" Her teeth gritted as she spoke. She kept the urge to just yell at him down and buried.

"Back up J. For real."

"Or what Lesane?" She challenged, "Why won't you just answer my question?" Janet's tone began to progress. She realized she can't keep her irritation contained. Her smaller frame was overlapped by Lesane lanky frame. Lesane's fist were balled; constantly looked away from Janet and taking breaths to contain his own irritated anger.

"I don't gotta explain shit to you J! I'm a grown man!" Lesane finally fully elevated his voice leaving Janet to look at him like he was crazy.

"What the hell is wrong with you! What the fuck happened that has you spazzing out?! I just asked you a simple damn question!" Janet shot back. Lesane's anger swallowed him deeper than he thought as he blacked out and grabbed Janet by her shoulders; pinning her down on the bed.

Janet's eyes were pooled with tears as Lesane hovered on top of her with his hands having a death grip on her shoulders. Lesane's breath was heavy and so was Janet's. Her chest heaved as the tears rolled on the side of her face. He let go of her and she sat up. Her tears couldn't stop as her adrenaline pumped. She felt like how she felt with Malcolm but this time, she was angry and so was Lesane. He didn't say anything, he just walked out the room and out the house; slamming the door behind him leaving Janet to be in her own emotions.

She stared at the wall before sobbing into her hands. Why does this happen to me? Was all she could think about. It was gonna be the same thing with him. He was gonna bring her flowers and she was gonna take him back. Was she just blind? All these red flags but she didn't wanna give him up. She still could see a lot of hope. It was eating her up inside but she could still see everything working out. She loved him but deep down she knew he wasn't good for her. Maybe no one was good for her.

Around this point she would've just up and left but Lesane was gone so no one was gonna stay with Irie and Aaliyah and her car still hadn't left the tow pound.

Janet laid down and stared some more before her eyes felt heavy and sleep took over her emotional body.
