"Mommy?" Aliegha's mumbled voice invaded Janet's ears. Her eyes fluttered open; seeing her rubbing her eyes. Janet sat up and looked around.

"Where did Irie and Aaliyah go?" She asked. Janet was half asleep so she was barely available to listen to her child.

"I don't know Aliegha." Janet finally answered, "Where's Lesane?" Aliegha asked seeing the empty side of the bed. When she said his name, everything came back to Janet. She looked at the clock that was on the nightstand. It was quarter to 9. She sighed, "I don't know Aliegha. Why are you asking so many questions?"

"I just wanted to know." Aliegha shrugged, "Okay, well, I don't know...just get ready for the day." She told her and she nodded before walking out. Janet got out the bed and looked through the boxes of clothes to wear. She look at the calendar and realized she had work. That just made her mood even worse.

She was starting to feel all her pregnancy symptoms. Morning sickness being the worse one.

As she picked out her work clothes, she stood up and went into the bathroom to start the shower for herself.

She couldn't help but stare at herself in the mirror before undressing herself. When she looked again, she could still see a slight bruise where Lesane grabbed her. Was it that hard? Did he grab me so hard that I have a bruise? She thought. Before tears could pile her eyes, she got into the shower. Letting the water hit her skin, she washed herself. Her eyes were closed tightly thinking about anything. It didn't take her long to notice tears running down her face.

It was cycle to her. This was just the start she believed. What was she worth? Was she worth anything? Why was she being treated like she wasn't? Most importantly, why can't she say she wish she could go back to her old self? It wasn't any better.

Sitting in the shower for a long time, she got out and grabbed her towel. She dried herself and put lotion on followed by her clothes. She walked out the room and to the phone to call Monica.

"Hello?" Monica sang in a hippy mood, "Hey."

"J? Girl I've been trying to get in touch with you! Where the hell you been?" She asked, slightly yelling into phone. "I'll explain all that but I just need you to come pick me up...please."

"Girl you know you don't have to say please to me. Where you at?"

"Lesane's."

The line grew quiet, "Okay...and where would that be?" She asked and Janet gave her the address. The call ended and Janet sat against the counter.

She hated how trapped in her thoughts she was starting to be. Trapped in her own emotions. It was starting to get to her. Now she was thinking about the baby. She hadn't even set up appointments...and more importantly, the pregnancy test.

"Shit..." Janet cursed to herself realizing that the pregnancy test she made Monica take was probably long gone. She thought she would just make her take another one but it didn't sound right coming into her mind so she knew it wasn't gonna sound right coming from her tongue.

A horn flew through the house. Janet grabbed her things and called for Aliegha. They both walked out and got inside the car. Monica started driving. She thought she'd just talk to Janet for a while.

"So....? What y'all do?" She asked with a smirk, "Nothing." Janet answered simply making Monica frown.

"So you stayed at his house and you ain't do shit? Y'all had to have did something. Come on, don't spare the details." She poked but Janet still responded, "Nothing. We did nothing." Making Monica frown once again.

"Well damn...I mean, if you had her there I doubt so that was stupid questioning...so why was you over there?"

"Robbed." Janet simply said making Monica slightly gasp, "Robbed! Girl someone robbed you?! Janet, what is going on? You got something you don't wanna tell me?" She said making Janet look at her confused.

"I'm sorry but your house getting shot up and now robbed? You apart of something?" Monica asked making her shake her head profusely, "No Monica. I just think people are broke and miserable."

"Hello. That's exactly what it is." Monica nodded. The car got quiet but Monica wasn't gonna let that continue, "Well..I meant to ask, You haven't said anything about your test in a while." Monica said. Janet's eyes bulged out, "Oh my god, thank you for reminding me. What day is it?"

"The 19th?" Monica answered making Janet's heart skip more than 2 beats. "There's no way they'll let me take it. I've already missed the time...and I have to sign papers." Janet bit her lip as she started to think.

"Well hell, ain't nothing wrong with going by there and seeing if they can. It's only 9 o'clock." Monica swung a U-turn and sped down to Janet's college.

Missing stop signs and running lights, they made it.

"I'll take her to your parents." Monica nodded, "I don't even have my books or anything?"

"Girl, if you don't get your black ass in there." Monica gritted, "Okay, okay." Janet got out and shut the door before jogging into the building. Her heart was doing nothing but skipping beats. She was so unprepared...
