Lesane knew exactly where he was going after leaving Janet's. He rode down the rode and he always came back like clockwork.
When he pulled into her driveway, all of her lights were on. He didn't waste any time getting out of his car and knocking on her door continuously.
"Hold up. Damn!" She yelled and swung the door open.
"Lesane? What are you doing here?"
"Coming to chill, Kidada. I need to talk to you." He tried to walk inside but she stopped him, "What the hell is wrong with you? I got company, Lesane." She told him calmly. Lesane laughed.
"Yeah right. Let me in." He made a move once more but Kidada pushed him back.
"I just told your stubborn ass that I have company." The calmness went out the window and now she was speaking through gritted teeth. Lesane looked at her before looking beyond her.
"You better not have another nigga in here, Kidada." He said. She couldn't help but look at him crazy.
"And if I do? Nigga you don't own me! I can have any nigga under this roof anytime I want. You better learn about me." She put him right in his place. Lesane smacked his lips and waved her off.
"Man —"
"Kidada? The hell taking your ass so long?" The familiar voice descended from the darkness. Lesane looked him straight in the eyes.
"O'Shea? Don't tell me your ass fuckin' with my brother!" He pried himself inside and pushed his half naked brother.
"The fuck you spazzing on me for Nigga?!" O'Shea pushed him back.
"Y'all ain't finna be fighting up in my house! It's either one of y'all get the hell out or I'm calling the cops." She warned the two. Lesane looked at her before looking at him.
"I'm sure as hell ain't leaving." O'Shea laughed before nudging his younger brother as he walked back to the bedroom.
"Why you even here? Don't you got a bitch?" She spoke referring to Janet. He completely ignored her as he walked out.
Lesane got in his car and sped out of her driveway. He was fuming as he drove. He was so mad, he felt like driving could kill him so he pulled over and rested his head on his wheel.
The longer he sat there, he reminisced on the conversation between him and Janet. He couldn't help but think why he would say what he did. He knew abuse wasn't something to put against anyone because his mother was in the same situation and he didn't like it; so why would he say something like that to Janet?
He cursed to himself seeing that the relationship between him and Janet was down the drain completely.
He sat in silence looking around his car. He noticed a slip of paper.
Jada
213-928-1938He forgot all about Jada. He didn't even know if that was her number anymore. He picked up his car phone and dialed the number.
After a few busy tones, she picked up.
"Hello?"
"Yo wassup." He greeted her.
"Who is this?" The confusion covered her whole tone. Lesane chuckled, "It's Lesane."
"Sane! Oh my god. Boy, how long have you had my number?" She asked. He laughed at her question before answering, "I just found it in my car."
"Oh. So I must've not been on your mind." She asked.
"Look, what you up to?" He asked, completely dodging her obvious mention.
"Nothing. It's really late so I'm just chilling. How come?"
"I need to clear my mind. You want company?" He asked. The line got quiet for a second.
"I don't mind. Come on through." She offered. Lesane ended the call and drove to the address he remembered her being at.
When he got there, Jada was waiting on him at the door.
That night, Jada and Lesane talked till the sun came up and also got into other things. They laughed and joked until the two grew tired. Jada listened to Lesane for hours hearing how he felt and gave her opinion on everything because that's what he wanted, someone's opinion other than his. He just wanted to be told he wasn't in the wrong.
