——I pulled into my parents driveway and dreaded the look of Latoya's car. I got out and walked onto the porch and the door opened.
"Come." Michael waved me to come inside. I furrowed my eyebrows and walked inside to hear silent sobbing.
"What's going on?" I asked
"It's Latoya.." Michael walked to the dining room where mother was consoling her.
"What's wrong?" I asked as I sat down
"Like you care." She said through her cry.
"Latoya, If I didn't care I would've never asked. I didn't have to ask but out of human courtesy, I asked." I sighed. I cared about latoya but sometime she can be a pain.
"I lost my house." She cried. I stared at her with a straight face because it wasn't something to cry about.
"It's not that serious." I rolled my eyes
"Didn't you cry when you lost your house, Janet?" Mother looked at me. I pursed my lips and didn't say anything because I will admit, I was being hypocritical.
"I apologize. How did you lose your house-" I was cut off by the phone. I took a deep breath and got up to get it.
"Hello?" I sang as I leaned against the wall.
"Hey. Just testing the line to see if it's right." Lesane's voice rang through the phone making me shiver.
"Hello?"
"I'm here, sorry." A smile crept across my face as I twirled the cord.
"Is it a bad time? You sound anxious." He asked. Did I sound anxious?
"Oh, No..it's not the best time but I can talk for a second. What's up?" I looked into the dining room to see how much time I could talk before they'd start asking questions.
"Well, I was thinking we can hit on of those outdoor movie things." His voice was different depending on how he was, I could tell.
"A drive-in?" I giggled
"Yeah." He chuckled.
"That would be great." I smiled.
"Alright, See you at 8." I could hear his smile as he hung up. I put the phone on the hook and walked back to the dining room.
"Who was it, Janet?" Mother asked.
"It was a friend of mines." My cheeks immediately started to heat up just thinking of him.
"Sure have you blushing over there." Randy looked at me.
"Stay in your lane, Steven." I shot a look at him.
"Ain't nobody worried about you, Donkey butt." He scoffed
"Leave me alone. Don't you got other things to do or is your life THAT boring?" I asked, cocking my head to the side.
