Chapter 80- The Big Day

Magnus woke up to the sun beaming through the window and smiled. Today was the day he and Alec would marry. He was so excited and happy but missed Alec dearly. Alec had spent the night at Jace, insisting that it was bad luck for them to see each other before wedding and he was adamant that they didn't need any more of that.

He got and stretched before going to see Max who was awake and sucking on his hands. He had been crying a lot the last few days with signs of teeth coming through. Magnus smiled and picked him up, kissing his forehead softly as he held him close.

"Well, Maxie. Today is the day" He smiled to his son when he heard the door and frowned. Confused as to who would be visiting at such an early hours but as he reached the door, he heard the familiar voice of Clary.

"Magnus, open up! We're here to get you looking perfect" She called out in a sing song voice. Magnus beaming as he opened the door, surprised to see a tired looking but still beautiful Izzy with Clary.

"Hey girls, come in. How are you both?" He asked happily.

"We're good but for now, its all about you! Let's get you married" Izzy grinned. "I need a new brother asap"

Magnus chuckled at that. The next few hours consisting of the girls and Magnus doing their hair and make up. It was a little before noon when they finally finished. Even Baby Max had a little suit. Magnus had to stop himself crying a few times throughout the morning. He couldn't believe it was finally happening as he looked at the girls, dressed in their pale purple bridesmaids dresses.

"Thank you so much ladies. I really appreciate it" Magnus smiled and hugged him before strapping Max into the car seat.

"Hey, you don't have to thank us" Clary smiled back.

"But you will have to apologise too Alec if we don't get a move on" Izzy chuckled as they rushed around to grab Max's stuff before heading out to the car.

The drive was less then twenty minutes, which was good because Max started crying the last five of the drive and Magnus couldn't stop him. He had tried feeding him, changing him, using teething gel and toys but he didn't settle with anyone. He was at a loss for what he wanted as they got out the car and Magnus cuddled him close trying to calm him down. It was then that Maryse appeared and smiled before pouting softly.

"Oh dear, what's wrong?" She asked with a sad tone.

"I don't know. I feel like I'm at a loss" Magnus sighed and passed him to Maryse when she gestured towards it. Magnus watched as even Maryse couldn't calm him. Max's cries only getting louder before Alec appeared. His back to Magnus thought which made Magnus smile a tiny amount.

"What up with Max? Can hear him from inside the tent" Alec said softly.

"No idea, he's not stopped for anyone. I've tried feeding him, changing him, teething gel, toys... I don't know what to do anymore" Magnus replied sadly.

"Pass him to me" Alec said and waited for Maryse to put him in his arms, still making sure they couldn't see each other.

Magnus smiled when he heard Max's cries turn into a whimper before he cuddled into Alec's arms and fell asleep. Magnus couldn't hold back anymore and went to Alec, cuddling him from behind as he laid his cheek on Alec's shoulder.

"He missed his daddy" Magnus said softly as he held Alec.

"Well,  missed him too. I almost came home early this morning to see you both" Alec chuckled and then pulled away slightly. "Can we get married now?"

"Yes, definitely. Let's go" Magnus beamed as he watched Alec go with Max and looked at the girls.

"That was fricken cute" Clary commented as she and Izzy started walking in with Magnus.

Izzy gave the cue to the band once Alec was standing up at the alter with Max and the music started to play. Magnus having to take a deep breath before he linked his arm with Maryse's. The girls walking in behind Madzie who was showering the floor with Rose petals followed by Max who's carried the rings on a blue cushion.

"You got this" Maryse whispered to Magnus when she saw how nervous he was and he smiled at her before following along behind.

As soon as he locked eyes with Alec, he smiled. He couldn't only see him. See the beautiful man that stood waiting for him at the end of the purple carpet, the man that was holding their sleeping son and who Magnus knew would be the only one to make him truly happy. By the time he reached his Alexander, he was crying and knew his make up was probably running down his cheeks a little despite it being waterproof but he couldn't help it.

"You can back out you know?" Alec teased when Magnus reached him because he was crying.

"Never" Magnus smiled as he stood next to him before they faced each other. The music turning silent as everyone sat down and Simon stood at the front and cleared his throat.

"We are here today to witness the marriage between Magnus Bane and Alexander Gideon Lightwood. I am honoured and surprised that they picked me to officiate the wedding but then again I am the bes-"

"Get on with it lewis" Alec huffed and rolled his eyes, making a few people snigger.

"Sorry" Simon muttered and smiled. "Anyway, I couldn't be happier to be here. I was going to do this all properly but I know Alec will just want me to get down to the important stuff so, I understand you two have written your own vows?"

"Yeah" Magnus smiled and looked at Alec, who nodded when Magnus asked if he was ready.

"The love I have for you..." Alec started.

"Is a love that know's no bounds" Magnus replied, the pair choosing to alternate their lines.

"In times of joy as well as sadness"

"In sickness and in health"

"I will love you as my equal"

"And protect you above all else"

"I will share with you my truest feelings"

"And when you speak, I will listen"

"I will catch you when you fall"

"And when you soar, I will help you reach your greatest heights"

"Magnus Bane..."

"Alexander Gideon Lightwood..." Magnus smiled as the pair stepped closer and Magnus took Alec's free hand.

"I am, and will always be, your loving husband"  The pair said, finishing their vows together.

"Guys... that were beautiful" Simon cried and smiled. " It is my honour to pronounce you One"

The men smiled before leaning and kissing each other softly. Baby Max letting out a small giggle which made the men and everyone else in the room laugh at his timing. Magnus looked at them, completely elated. Unable to believe how lucky he truly was to have Alec and Max in his life. His husband and Son.

"I love you Alexander" Magnus smiled.

"I love you too Magnus" Alec said as they linked their fingers and lead everyone through to the party side of the tent.

The rest of the night filled with laughter, dancing, food, drink and good company. The pair happy and content as they looked around at their loving family. Their son laid in his stroller next to them sleeping and their wedding bands fitting perfectly around their fingers. They knew that life wouldn't be easy but they knew that as long as they was together and honest, they could make it through anything.
