Magnus laid with Alec on the couch when his phone rang. Max was in his swing chair asleep so he walked into the kitchen as he answered it because he didn't want to wake his son.

"Hello?" He said since he didn't recognise the number.

"Mr Bane?" A woman asked.

"Yes, sorry, who is this?" He frowned slightly confused.

"My name is Miss Amanda Smith. I work alongside the police. I have been asked to give you a quick call regarding Camille Belcourt and if you were still coming to confirm her death? It's been over a week and the autopsy has been done. They know with absolute certainty that it is her but they said that you wanted to check yourself?" The lady said

"Oh, yes I do," Magnus said and then looked at Alec through the door. "Hey Alec"

"Yeah" Alec called back quietly.

"Can you watch Max while I go and, well check if Camille is dead" Magnus sighed.

"Are you sure you want to go alone? Why don't we all go together and then we can do something after?" Alec suggested.

"Oh, okay" Magnus nodded and then went back to the phone. "I can come and check today. Erm, Do I just go to the hospital and the morgue?"

"She's been moved to the crematorium so she will be there today and tomorrow and then she will be given a state funeral because no one has planned anything" She explained.

"Oh shit... sorry, excuse my language. I was meant to plan something. And my dad" Magnus sighed annoyed at himself for forgetting such an important thing.

"Is your father a... one minute... Asmodeus?" She asked Magnus could hear her ruffling through papers.

"Yes, that's him. Why?" He asked worried

"He is also there. Unfortunately, he had already been cremated. Apparently, they tried to get in contact with you last week but there was no reply and he needed to be sorted. I'm so sorry but his ashes are there" She explained, a sad tone in her voice.

"Oh no. He had no one there" Magnus whimpered as he put his head in his hand. "Okay. I'll go down there now and sort everything. Thank you for calling"

"You're welcome, and again I am sorry"

"But wait... sorry. If you could get a hold of me, why couldn't they?" He frowned slightly.

"I don't really know, unfortunately. We had to look through a lot of records to find this number. They may not have access to it" She sighed.

"Okay. Okay, no problem. Thanks again" Magnus said and ended the call when she said her goodbyes before going back into the living room and collapsing into the couch.

"You okay?" Alec asked him.

"No, They've cremated Dad. He had no one and he was cremated alone" Magnus sighed.

"Well, maybe we can scatter his ashes" Alec suggested. "Do something you want to do and scatter him?"

"Would you mind? I know you don't really like him" Magnus asked.

"Of course I don't mind. You're not going to be happy until you've done it so let's get Max sorted, go and collect Asmodeus and check it's her and then we can do something for your dad" Alec smiled.

"Thank you" Magnus smiled back and kissed his cheek. "I'm going to go and get Max some nice clothes out"

"Okay," Alec smiled.

Magnus went into Max's bedroom and found him a clean and nice baby-grow before he came back and picked Max up who whined as he was moved. Magnus laid him on the changing mat and got him in a clean diaper before dressing him.

"Can you get the pushchair for me? It's in the cupboard" Magnus asked and pointed to the cupboard.

"Sure" Alec smiled and got up to get it.

Magnus smiled at Alec as he went and got the pushchair for him and then picked Max up before he laid him into the pushchair and tucked him in gently. He went to the kitchen and got some sterilised bottles of milk that he had made up for the day and put them in his bag along with diapers and other things he would need before the pair headed out.

They took the long and leisurely stroll to the crematorium and then walked in. The place didn't smell nice but that was expected. He still wasn't sure what to expect as he went up to the receptionist.

"Hello, my name is Magnus Bane. I need to see Camille Belcourt and I also need to pick up my father's ashes. Mr Asmodeus Bane" Magnus said.

"Oh, you're Mr Magnus Bane? We have been trying to reach you for a while now" She said. Magnus frowned slightly at her tone that she was judging him for some reason.

"I'm so sorry. I had to change my phone number after some stuff happened and then I had to go on a break with my partner" Magnus sighed. He felt awful that this woman had just assumed stuff.

"Well, your father was cremated with no one here but I hoped you enjoyed your holiday" She smiled but Magnus could tell it was a snarky remark as she stood up. "I'll show to Miss Belcourt"

Magnus nodded and followed her outback as Alec waited in the lobby with Max. The two on them walked down a corridor which had doors on either side before they entered one at the far end. Magnus choked slightly. The body laid within a basic brown coffin with a lid on the top as the pair walked in the woman slid the lid down partially to reveal her face.

Magnus couldn't believe it. He looked at the pale body that laid amongst the silk sheet and let out a little whimper. There she was. His ex, and despite the fact he didn't want her, the woman who for years he thought he would end up married too.

He wasn't sure how to feel completely in that moment. Some part of him was sad and other parts of him were relieved that she was officially out of his life. He looked at her before he looked at the woman and nodded slightly.

"Thank you," He said, his voice hoarse.

"It's fine. She will be cremated tomorrow if you're interested" She told him.

"I won't be attending," Magnus told her as the woman just nodded. "She killed my dad. She was my ex who cheated on with my dad as well. Then she tried to kill me. So please, don't judge me for not being here. I can see the look on your face. As for my dad, that was a mistake. I wanted to be here but I just couldn't"

"Oh, I..." The woman stammered slightly and blushed. "I am sorry. I didn't mean to make you think I was judging you. I have one of those faces and tones. I'm trying to work on it. I am really sorry"

"It's okay but maybe work harder on it," Magnus said and smiled slightly. "Can I have my dad's ashes now?"

"Of course Mr Bane, right this way," She said and led Magnus to another room and gave him a dark purple urn. It was pretty basic and Magnus knew it was probably a state one, the cheapest one.

"Thank you," Magnus said before he went back to the lobby to find Alec who had Max in his arms and was feeding him.

"You okay babe?" Alec asked when he saw Magnus.

"Yeah, sorry, Are you okay with him?" Magnus asked.

"Of course, but let's go because this place gives me the creeps. Can you push the stroller while I finish feeding him?" Alec asked as he stood up.

"Thank you" Magnus smiled and kissed his cheek before they all left and headed towards the East River as Magnus has an idea on what he wanted to do.
