"It's been awhile." Luke speaks up.

I nod, "Yeah." I say, looking at my foot.

"So how have you been?" Luke says, trying to start up a conversation.

"I've been shit, but I've been worse." I say.

"Oh." is all he can say. We sit there in silence a little longer, until he decides to speak up again. "I'm truly sorry about what happened at the hospital. I shouldn't have kissed you." He says.

"No, it's fine," I say, "I kind of enjoyed it." I say, blushing.

"What? Really?" He says, his eyes wide.

"Yeah. You're not a bad kisser Hemmings." I smile.

"If I'm not a bad kisser, then why did you run away?" He asks. It's time to tell him. I have to.

"Well-" I started to say, but I'm cut off by a frantic Kaitlyn running towards us.

"KAYLA!" She yells, "WE HAVE TO GET TO MRS. RANGERS CLASSROOM!! NOW!" She says, grabbing my hand and pulling me away fro Luke.

"We'll finish this in math." I say. Luke nods his head and walks away from the bench.

"Why do we have to get there?" I say,

"She's starting some assignment. I should've told you before, but it didn't cross my mind until I walked in. She told us that we need to be in her room by 8:30." Kaitlyn says, dragging me through the hallway. I look at the time. 8:29.

"Kaitlyn, what kind of assignment is it?" I say.

"I don't know. She just said it's a big assignment and we need to be here early." We finally get in the classroom and take our seats.

"Miss Holt, welcome back." Mrs. Ranger says once Kaitlyn and I walk through the door. The bell rang and she starts class. Apparently, Kaitlyn got the day wrong about when the assignment started. Apparently it starts next Monday.

"I'm sorry Kayla." Kaitlyn says. " I was for sure it started today."

"it's okay." I smile. I'm actually glad Kaitlyn interrupted Luke and I. I was about to talk myself out of telling him. I don't know how I'm going to tell him. I told Ashton what I was going to say, but once the moment came, my mind went blank.

Mrs. Ranger's class goes by and it's time for math. I walk in and Luke's already in his seat. It's weird not seeing Calum and Hanley sitting there.

"Wow, it's quite without Cal and Hanley." I say, sitting my stuff down.

"Oh you should've heard it last week. You could've dropped a pen in Russia and still hear it in here." Luke says.

"Over the top example." I say.

"Well, it was quite." Luke laughs. He gets up and sits in Hanley's seat. "So, are you going to tell me why you ran?" Luke looks down.

"Oh, yeah. I'm just not ready for a relationship right now." I say. Wow Kayla, great way to put it.

"Oh. Well you could've just told me that." Luke says, "instead of running away."

"That's the thing, I run away from my problems." I say.

"So I'm a problem." Luke says.

"No, it's just-" I start to say, but a guy walks into the room.

"Good morning class." says the guy. "I'm finally back."

"Good mornging Mr. Page." two girls, Mary and Lilly says in the front. I've come to the conclusion that those girls are Mr. Page's favorite students.

"Good morning girls." Mr. Page says.

"How are you feeling?" Mary asks.

"I'm feeling much better. It's not fun spending a couple of weeks in the hospital." Mr. Page says.

"Oh. We didn't know you were in the hospital." Lilly says.

"Oh yes, been in for awhile."

"God, I hate those girl at times." Luke whispers, "Think they're God's gift." I have to cover my mouth to keep from laughing.

"Oh, I see we have a new student. Miss Holt." Mr. Page says. I raise my hand. "It's nice to meet you." He says.

"Nice to meet you to Mr. Page." I say.

"So class, lets get started shall we." Mr. Page says.

"We'll finish this later." Luke says, turning around and facing the front.

The class goes on. I swear I hate math. In the middle of class I get a message from Ashton.

*Ashton: Carson has a deal for us to night.*

*Me: Really? Where?*

*Ashton: Some party. We have to be there around 7. I'll pick you up at 6:30. Alright.*

*Me: Sure.*

The bell rings and Luke and I head to the lunch room.

"Now start." Luke says, once we sit down at a table.

"Well, last year, Ashton and I was at a party." I say.

"Wait, so did you and Ashton date?" Luke asks.

"No, not at all. Well we did make out once, but we were drunk so it doesn't count." I say.

"Okay." Luke says.

"Well anyways, we were at that party and-" I'm cut off by Luke's phone ringing. "Damn it." I say.

I look at the caller ID and Calum's name pops up. Luke looks at me, like he is asking me if he could answer it, "Answer it. It could be important." I say. He answers the phone.

"Hello." He says. His expression changes from annoyed to worried.

"How bad is it?" He asks, standing up and grabbing my arm.

"What is it Luke?" I whisper.

"Well okay. We'll be there soon." Luke says, hanging up the phone and drags me through the hallways and out the door.

"What's going on Luke?" I ask.

"It's Hanley." Luke says. "She's been having these episodes and we don't know what is causing them or what they are." He says, unlocking his car doors.

I think this conversation can hold off a little while longer.
