"ASHTON!" I yell, walking into the house. "ASH!"
"What's wrong?!?" He asks, rushing out of his room.
"You'll never guess who I ran into while I was on a coffee run." I say, setting my stuff down.
"Luke?" He asks.
"YES!" I yell.
"Okay, stop yelling." He laughs.
"He wants me to meet him at Jack's Coffee and More." I say, going into my room and start getting ready.
"Was, um, Hanley there?" He asks.
"Yes." I say.
"How does she look?" He asks me, looking down.
"She looks fine. Luke said she's doing better." I say, grabbing a shirt from the closet. "Now if you excuse me, I need to get ready sir." I say, closing the door in his face. I take a shower and get dressed and change into better clothes. I walk out into the living room.
"How do I look?" I ask Ashton.
"Fine." Ashton says, looking at his phone. "Damn, I wish I was with you today."
"Hey, maybe you'll see her. Go take a walk." I say.
"I don't want to." He protests.
"Ashton. Go take a damn walk." I say.
"Fine." He gives up.
"You'll never know, you may just run into her." I say, pushing him a little bit.
"I hope you're right. Be careful, okay?" He says, letting me walk out the door, him right behind me.
"I will. You be careful!" I tell him before getting into my jeep.
The whole drive to the coffee shop, I think about what could happen. He could drop a bomb on me and tell me he find someone better. Every worse case scenarios run through my head. I've tried talking myself out of it a couple of times, but I can't. We need to talk about this. It has to happen. Before I know it, I'm pulling into the parking lot. I look around to see if I see Luke's car. There it is. He's here. I get out my car and walk over to the shop. I see him sitting on the outside patio.
"Hey." I say, walking over to the table. He turns and looks at me.
"Oh hey." He says, getting up and giving me hug. I love his hugs. He pulls out a chair for me to sit in. I thank him and he sits down. "So." He says.
"So." I say, laughing.
"We're still has awkward as hell." He laughs.
I laugh with him. "Yes we are."
"So how's your dad?" He asks me.
"Um, I'm not for sure. I don't live with anymore." I say.
"What?" He asks.
"Yeah. Remember how I told you he has job." He nods, "Well, come to find out, he was actually going to the local pub and getting shit faced and going home with the bartender."
"Whoa. How did you find this out?" Luke asks.
"I followed him. He never told me his job." I say.
"Where are you living?" He asks me.
"I moved in with Ashton." I tell him.
"Wait, how did you move out?" He asks.
"I'm 18 now Luke." I say, "My birthday was a couple weeks ago." His face turns to sadness.
