"Well Miss Heart, looks like you're going home today." The doctor says.
"Thank God." I say, a smile on my lips.
"Going to miss you too." He laughs.
"I'll miss you too Doctor Johnson. Can I ask you a question?" I say, looking down and fidgeting with my fingers.
"Anything Kayla." He says, sitting down at the end of my bed.
"How's Hanley?" I say, tear pricking at my eyes.
"We're trying everything we can Kayla. She'll be fine. Promise." He says, patting my leg and giving me a smile.
"I hope you're right." I say, swinging my legs over the bed and standing up. I'm still a little sore.
"We should be getting your blood test back soon and I'll have one of my nurses to call you and you can come down and see them." He says, helping me to my feet.
"Alrighty." I say, grabbing my bag.
"Do you need a wheelchair?" He asks me, opening the door.
"Nah, I got it." I say, walking down the hallway.
"Proud of you Kayla!" He yells.
I walk down the hallway with a smile on my face. I finally feel free. No one is coming after me, I finally have Luke back and I still have Ashton. Hanley is still in bad shape, but slowly getting better, well, that's what the doctors tell us. I walk out the door and see Luke's black mustang sitting out front. I walk over and open the door.
"Finally." He says. I put my bag in the backseat and put my seat belt on.
"I'M FREE!" I yell. Luke looks over and starts laughing. He pulls out of the hospital parking lot. We drive down the road, windows down and the radio blasting.
"Do you know how it feels knowing that there is no one coming after me?" I say.
"Well, I've never been in that situation, so no." Luke says.
"IT FEELS FUCKING AMAZING!" I laugh.
Luke reaches over and grabs my hand, "I'm glad you're still here."
"Me too. Thank you." I say.
"For what?" He says, looking over at me and then looking back at the road.
"For looking for Hanely and I and staying with me." I say.
"I'm going to be honest," He says, "I lost hope there for awhile."
"Why?" I ask.
"I don't know. The ring, the blood, the dress. I just thought you guys were gone. I thought I'd never see you again." He says. I look over to him and see tears pooling in his eyes.
"Luke," I say, "But you didn't give up and now I'm here."
"Yeah, but maybe if we tried harder and I didn't look hard enough, maybe Hanley would still be here." He says.
"Hey, Hanley is still here. They said she's doing better and is slowly getting stable." I say, squeezing his hand.
"Really?" He says.
"Yeah, I asked Doctor Johnson today, before I left." I say.
"I'm glad I found you." He says, stopping at a red light and giving me a kiss., "and by that, I mean you coming into my life."
"I'm glad you cam in my life too, Luke." I say.
"I love you."
"I love you."
