Might include stronger language that may be distressing to some readers. But then again, when do my stories NOT curse, right 😅

{Natsu POV}

Continued flashback

"Wait, I'm still pretty confused..."

Lisanna glared at Father, before facing me.

"I'm the one who sent that guy at you." She said. Then she turned to Father. "There?"

It took me a few seconds to process what she said because it was so sudden.

"Wait, wait. What?"

"Do I need to repeat myself to your stupid ass?" She asked. Father slammed his fist down onto the table, making me flinch. She sighed.

"I. Sent. That. Man. To. Kill. Lucy. So. That. We. Could. Get. Married. There?" She said, slapping her thigh at every word.

My confusion slowly shifted into anger. "You did WHAT?"

I stood up and walked over to her, grabbing her by the collar. She smirked.

"Why? Upset your girlfriend got hurt?"

Before I could punch her, Father pulled me away from her.

"You little bitch!" I yelled. "Lucy was freaking stabbed! STABBED! She could've fucking died!"

"That was my goal, idiot." She snapped back. "How hard-headed can you get?"

It was still a big shock that Lisanna was so different. When we met, she was so warm...and kind. She emitted a sort of glow; A warm glow, too.

Now that glow was gone, and I was given something ice cold. I hated it.

"We're taking her to the police right now." Father said. "Under heavy guard."

Before she stood up, I stopped Father.

My feelings about Lisanna were confused. She deserved every penalty in the book. She hurt me. She hurt LUCY. But...for some reason...I wanted to see her smile...

I know, it's weird. She's a monster. But...she was my friend, and losing a friend who cheered me up when Lucy wasn't there...it was strange, but I didn't like it. I didn't like her change. I didn't like seeing her...so bad, and tainted.

Just these thoughts made me want to cry.

"One question." I said, my voice shaking. She looked at me, as if she was bored at my broken state. "Why..Why?"

She didn't reply at first. Then she smirked, and scoffed.

"Isn't it obvious? Popularity and money."

"She's cruel!" Lucy stated. "Absolutely horrible!"

"I'm still disgusted at myself." I said, sighing. "I...I WANTED Lisanna to just say that everything was fake, and that she was actually good at heart...I wanted her to say that she was warm, like when we first met...I wanted her to be her happy self...I'm disgusting..."

Lucy smiled fondly, and stroked my cheek. I leaned into her hand, leaving soft kisses.

"I think that just proves you're kind." She said. "I've got myself a kind, caring boyfriend."

I forced a smile, and hugged her.

"You can cry." She whispered. "I know you want to."

My smile slowly faded as my body stared to shake.

Losing a friend isn't easy. It definitely isn't. I don't care that she was with me for only a few weeks...I cared about her a lot. Now, someone was here to tell me that I could be sad, even if I felt like those feelings were disgusting.

A tear trickled down my face. Lucy patted my back. I hugged her tighter, and cried silently into her sweater.

"Shhh...it's okay."

I know, I'm pathetic. Like, Cmon, this girl hurt my girlfriend. This girl almost killed us. But...

"I want us to be friends again..." I muttered. "I'm sorry..."

"Don't be." Lucy said. "I understand..she was very precious to you, wasn't she?"

I nodded slightly. I had to bend over a little to meet her small shoulder, but I didn't care.

She pulled away and patted my head. I noticed her wet face.

"I know how it feels." She said, smiling. "But you know she deserves what she gets, right?"

I nodded immediately, and she smiled approvingly. "Good. Let's ask her if we can be friends once she's paroled, hm?"

I sniffed. "You'll...You'll allow it?"

"I'm not possessive enough to control who you're friends with. But if she messes with you again, I'll be with you and we'll go through it together."

I smiled and hugged her again. "I've got the best girlfriend in the world..."

"I know, I know." She said. "You don't need to remind me."

"Guys, Cmon! We're gonna be late for school!"

Sting was calling from the front doors, holding Rogue's hand.

{Lucy POV}

Life is always full of surprises.

I think it's best if we just move along with it. Get surprised, adapt, and live.

Maybe we can be friends once Lisanna is released. Perhaps...maybe I can gather enough money and buy special glasses so I could see the many faces I long to see.

Life is full of surprises, and I can't wait to see what mine has in store for me.

Once again, as we climbed the steps up to school, I counted:

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.

Now THATS what you call an ending.

Anyways, thank you guys so much for reading! It was absolute fun to make this story. It's my longest one yet! Stay tuned for a new story, coming probably in two days(because I have so many story ideas in store for you guys, lol)

Lots o' love,
