"Good job, Miss Summer. And where's Mr. Hemmings?"
Finally, the project was done. Luke did what I said. After I took the photograph, he did the rest. He painted it and I wasn't gonna lie. It was awfully beautiful!
But he didn't come to school today. I didn't know why. I hadn't talked to him since the last time we met. I guessed he went back to his cold side. "I don't know Mr. Jonas. We haven't talked much." He nodded.
"It's okay then. You can leave now. Thank you, Miss Summer."
"Yeah, sure Mr. Jonas."
I texted Emily saying that I wanted to meet her in the cafetaria.
Hey, Em. Meet me in the café ,yeah?BAM! I bumped into someone. "Oh my God, sorry I didn't see you there." I said, gathering all his books that just fell down because of me. "It's okay." He said. I handed him his books. "Thank you, Lily I guess?"
I raised an eyebrow and then chuckled, "How do you even know my name? I guess we haven't met before?" I asked him. He had this curly hair, and he wore glasses. "Yeah, I just.. heard of you." Heard of me? Did this school ever happen to talk about me? "Oh?" He nodded. "Well, I gotta go. I'll see you soon, yeah?" He left before I could reply. Did that mean he wanted to see me again?
I shrugged and ignored all the questions in my mind and kept walking to the cafetaria.
I sat and waited for Emily to come. My mind went back to the day I came to Luke's apartment. He looked so happy around his sister. I meant, she was adopted, but Luke seemed like he loved her with everything he had. And he chose to live with her sister..
Wait! He lived with his sister alone.
His little sister. Adopted sister. Did that mean he was a... Was he... Oh my god, what was I thinking? Screw the thoughts, Lily! Please have your mind in peace.
"Earth to Lily Georgia Summer!" I snapped my head up to see that Emily was already sitting across from me. "Emmy.. gosh! You scared the crap out of me!" She rolled her eyes, "blame yourself for not being aware that I'm here."
"I'm sorry. Hang out today?"
"Oka-wait! I almost forgot. Mrs. Susan asked me to help her in her office."
"Why did she ask you in the first place?" She shrugged, "maybe because I'm the smartest in her class." She finished with a smirk. I chuckled, "Cocky."
"Hey, I'm not cocky. I'm just proud." I laughed.
Well, since Emily couldn't go out with me today, I guessed I should just go alone.
I went to the nearest mall from school, to a book store in it, to be exact. I wanted to buy some new books to read. I loved seeing the shelves in my room filled with books. Yummy.
"Excuse me."
Someone said when I was reading a book in the hallway between two big shelves. I lifted my head and saw Luke carrying about three or four books. "Hey, Luke!" He stopped and turned his head, "oh, hey." He didn't smile. He just stopped to greet me back and then continued to walk and I was standing there and asked myself what's wrong with him again? I thought after what happened in his apartment he would be nice to me.
I payed for my books at the cashier and walked out. I walked down the street, didn't know where to go. I didn't want to go home now, I wanted to spend this friday afternoon in a good place. I walked and walked 'til my feet stopped at a park. The same one Luke and I argue about our project for the first time. I sat on the bench.
05:02 p.m.
I put my headphones and started to listen to one of my favourite songs,
18 by One Direction
I got a heart
I got a soul
Believe me I will use them both
We made a start
Be it a false one I know
Baby I don't want to feel alone
"Lily!" I heard someone call my name. I tried to find where the sound came from, and my eyes landed on a familiar little girl who was standing a few feet away from me. I stood up and greeted her. "Hey, Helen!" Yup, she was Helen.
"What are you doing here? And are you alone?" I worriedly asked. She giggled and shook her head, "I'm with Luke. We're kind of bored so we decided to come here." She explained. Wait.. there's something odd here.
"Wait, Helen. The last time I saw you, you were a shy girl. What happened to you?" I playfully asked, she giggled again. God, her giggle was so so cute.
"I like you. Luke has never brought a girl to our place before. And once he did, I like her." She grinned.
Really? A guy like him had never brought a girl to his place before?
I thought he was some-"You thought I was some what?" Luke was standing beside me. Could he read people's minds or something? Or did I voice my thought? "N-nothing." Why did I stutter again? "Sure it's nothing."
"Whatever Luke."
He smiled.
Did he just.. smile? Is he a bipolar? Few hours ago we met in the book store and he was so cold.
"Hey, Luke. What's with the change of mood?" I asked him.
He raised an eyebrow, "What do you mean?"
"Don't play dumb, Luke. You acted as if you didn't know me back in the book store."
"Oh that.." he shrugged "I don't know."
"Really? Weird."
"Hey! Don't act like you know me."
I crossed my arms over my chest, "My apologies, sir. Someone just keeps changing their mood it confuses me."
