Artyom

He screamed in rage, and threw his phone at the wall as hard as he could. It crashed against it, making a dent, then fell on the floor.

This couldn't be the end of them. He couldn't leave James behind.

Their room was so full of James, and yet so empty of him.

The lamp was the next thing to crash against the wall. Then the pillows went flying, and his clothe, the phone, the paintings on the wall, everything he could find.

Artyom never touched anything that belonged to James. When he ran out of things to throw, he crumpled to his knees, and sobbed.

James didn't belong to Mathias. He belonged with Artyom. They belonged to each other.

Every cell in Artyom's body ached for him but he couldn't make Ada go to them, not only because James wouldn't forgive him, Artyom wouldn't forgive himself.

Mathias had turned him down, and he was sure the Twins wouldn't listen to him either. They had never liked Artyom. He had nothing to offer them.

A part of Artyom wished he had never met James. But it was too late now. Artyom had ruined James's life.

How could he live with himself after this?

Even if James survived Mathias, Artyom could never look at him without guilt. The broken look on his face, the sound of his whimpers, and his ruined back would never leave Artyom.

Mathias had made him obedient. He had made James beg. Artyom couldn't stop thinking about the amount of unbearable pain Mathias must have put James through to break him like that.

Artyom felt an arm around him and sobbed harder. "Hans..."

"I'm going to fix this. You'll get him back. I promise."

Artyom looked up. "Ada? What are you doing here?"

"It'll be Ok. He'll be here soon..." Her smile was kind.

"You can't go."

"Artyom this is my choice..."

"And it's James's choice that you don't go. Think about your baby..."

It killed Artyom to say those words, but he couldn't betray James like this, specially not now that he knew what had happened to his wife, and unborn child. Ada couldn't have the same fate.

"I have thought about everything..."

"And you still want to go?That's very wrong, and irresponsible."

"Don't you want James back?"

"Of course I want him back, but he'd rather die under Mathias's whip than put you, and his unborn child in danger. If you really care about him then you should also care about what he wants."

"He needs to stop being so selfless, and let me do the same for once." Ada wasn't backing down.

"You don't understand...."
