James
They switched seats. It was difficult, but they managed. James drove, holding Artyom's hand. He was looking out of the window, lost in his head.
"First time I met Ada was in a bar I used to work at. First thing that drew me to her were her eyes. They were this beautiful deep blue, a lot like Rose's but sadder.
We talked, and I realized we weren't that different. Things were going really good despite some stuff with her father, but we still wanted to be with each other..."
"Why are you telling me this?" Artyom gave a curious sidelong glance.
"You told me about all your important past relationships. I like to do the same. Well I didn't love Ada but I knew with enough time I could."
"Why didn't it work out?"
"She wanted an open relationship including her ex presumed dead girlfriend who had shown up after four years, but I couldn't give her what she wanted because in case you haven't noticed, I'm monogamous as fuck."
"Oh I've noticed." Artyom said with a soft chuckle.
"Then the whole searching for the cure thing happened, and Maggie, Ada's girlfriend died, and she was a mess. Ada decided to go after Angelina, the witch who had killed Maggie. Angelina didn't enjoy being hunted, which brings us to the current fucked up situation.
I wanted to help Ada. I knew we couldn't be together anymore, but I still considered myself her friend. Ada didn't. She wanted me, and her family to leave her alone. And I can be kinda annoyingly persistant sometimes...
Ada decided the only way that would guarantee me not going after her was to bite the shit out of me...It was one of the worst moments of my life. I really thought she would kill me. I was fucking pissed at her for a while.
But deep down I knew she did it for me, because she didn't want me to get killed by Angelina. I'm over it now. I don't want to hate her, or fight with her anymore, not now that we have a kid together. It's my second chance. I'm going to cherish it."
"I'm sure you'll be a wonderfull dad." Artyom smiled. "And I'm sorry it didn't work out between you two."
"I'm not, otherwise I probably wouldn't have met you. Ada and I are better as friends."
"You don't feel anything for her anymore?"
"Not in a romantic way. You have nothing to worry about."
"So a few weeks ago when you came back all bloody, and bruised, that was because of Ada too?"
"Yes, and no. She didn't beat me up. It wasn't really her fault. Angelina's people kidnapped me, to use me against her. She could have let me die, finally have her revange, but she chose to save me. Ada's not that bad. She's still hurting because of Maggie. I get it."
"You have the biggest heart in the universe James." Artyom leaned close, and kissed his temple. "I'm so lucky to have you in my life."
James grabbed his hand and smiled.
