"This is the best sambusa I've ever had." Jack chewed, and moaned at the same time.

"You bet your ass it is." Marcia said with a smug look. "I've been working on them all day."

"Wait, you made these?" Jack asked, looking impressed.

"Of course."

"That's amazing. You gotta teach me how."

Marcia put a hand on her  waist. "Ain't gonna happen boy. No one knows my secret recipes, not even Adrian, and he's been begging me for centuries."

Jack batted his black eyelashes. "Pretty please."

Marcia laughed. "Maybe if you were a woman. Your charms don't work on me."

Nora and Ada smirked at that.

"I will never forget this heart break." Jack sighed dramaticly then picked up another sambusa, and nibbled on it.

"You're such a food whore." Nora said fondly while sipping her drink, an amused smile tugging at the edge of her lips.

"I know." Jack shrugged and continued eating.

They were hanging out in the kitchens of Adrian's castle, enjoying his Christmas party.

He had called Ada a few days ago, and asked her to attend his annual party. What surprised her was that he'd asked her to bring her family along, her Dad in particular.

Ada had been hesitant at first, given their history, but Adrian assured her he just wanted to talk to him, to build bridges, and after some thinking Ada decided to go along with it.

Adrian was a good man. He had been nothing but kind to her ever since Ada had appeard in his throne room. He wouldn't hurt Dad over a misunderstanding.

Ada had told Nora she didn't have to be there. She was sure being here again would be hard for her after what had happened with Ben, but Nora had insisted on coming. She had brought Jack with her, since now they were dating which made Ada very happy.

Ada had chosen tonight to tell James about her pregnancy, but he was absent. According to Jack he was on vacation with his lover, and wouldn't be back for almost a week, so she had to wait.

Nora had tried to get some more information out of him but Jack wouldn't budge. He just said James would tell them himself if he wanted to. Ada respected his decision.

She was happy he had someone who cared about him, and took him on vacations. He deserved a good time after everything she had put him through.

"Hey Marcia, where's Gideon? I don't think I've seen him around." Ada asked.

Marcia stopped talking to Jack, and Nora and turned her brown gaze on Ada. "Gideon doesn't like parties. Try the music room. He's probably hiding in there." She winked at her.

"Thanks."

Ada turned to her sister. "Call me if Dad decides to do something stupid."

"Doubt it. He's been civilized all night, and I'm pretty sure Mom can keep him in check."

"Ok see you around."

It was her turn to wink at Ada. "Don't forget to use protection."

Instead of answering, Ada showed Nora her two middle fingers, and waltzed out of the kitchens. Nora's laughter followed her out.
