James

The baby shower was held in one of the ballrooms on the ninth floor.

It was kind of soon to have one when Ada was only four month pregnant, but with supernatural pregnancies you never knew when the baby was ready to come out, plus she already looked like she was far ahead.

Thia, Marcia, and Nora had put all they had into this party. Everywhere James looked there were rainbow colors, and glitter. Thanks to Marcia the glitter was magical so it didn't stick to their skin or clothe.

There was a big banner above were Ada was sitting, again in rainbow colors that read Welcome little one, in bright neon colors.

Ada was sitting beside Gideon, laughing at something he was saying. In a long, lilac dress that brought out her dark blue eyes, she looked very beautiful.

James gazed at her big stomach, imaganing what it would feel like to hold their baby, to not lose them to anything, or anyone.

Last but not least was the delicious looking, rainbow colored cake which was Marcia's present.

When James joined Ada, she started opening up presents that seemed endless. James was sure everyone in the castle had bought their baby something even though during their short stay they didn't get the chance to know all the inhabitants of the castle.

"Aw James, look at these tiny shoes." Ada exclaimed, holding them up.

"Yeah they're pretty cute." James looked at the green sandles, imaganing what their kid would look in them.

"That's from me." Hans spoke, one arm around a young man.

He was looking at Hans with dreamy eyes which made James feel bad for him. To Hans he was nothing but a good fuck. But that was his business. What mattered to James was that Hans was a good friend to both Artyom, and himself.

"Thanks." James smiled at Hans, and showed the little black suit, and tie to Ada, meanwhile sneaking a look at Artyom, and Gideon who were chatting in a low voice.

Artyom looked delicious in slacks, and a botton up that hugged his muscles beautifuly. He cought James's eye, and flashed him a flirtatious smile. He returned it, and went back to opening the endless mountain of presents.

"It's like everyone has brought something." Ada opened the lid of a green squere gift box.

"You can't blame them for being excited." Adrian spoke, sipping his drink. "It's not everyday there's a new baby around here. It's rare, and harder for supernaturals to get pregnant. They tend to make a bigger deal of it."

"And yet I got knocked up the first time." Ada smirked, making everyone laugh.

"Blame it on my dormant, sneaky hybrid genes." James said which led to more laughter. He opened a big box that held a car seat which could be turned into a stroller. Practical.

"Do you like it?" Thia asked, refilling her glass with blood.

"It's lovely. I don't know how to thank you guys. The decorations, the cake, the presents, everything's perfect." Ada smiled thankfuly at them.

"Yes. Everything's amazing. Thank you so much." James said with a grateful smile.

"You bet your ass it is." Marcia grinned. "We've spent all day working on it. Perfection doesn't make itself."

"It wouldn't kill you to be humble from time to time." Thia scolded her friend.

"Fuck that. I'm the best. You lot would be hopeless without me."

"You definitely are. We all love you. I can't wait to eat the cake." Ada chuckled.

Thia rolled her eyes at Adrian who mimicked her expression.

"Do that one more time, and I'll melt your eyes in their sockets." Marcia glared at them playfuly then turned towards Ada. "You better cut that cake first, opening up all these presents will take a whole week."

"I second that." Jack chimmed in and got an elbow in the ribs from Nora. "Ow that hurt."

"Good, stop being such a glutton."

"I'll cut the cake in a few minutes, I promise. Just a few more presents."

Ada's enthusiasm filled James's heart with warmth. He helped her with the wrapping paper.

Being raised a hunter by strict parents, James could have never imagined himself being surrounded by a supernatural family, having a baby with a vampire, and being in love with another who was the most attractive and kindest person he had ever met.

James couldn't believe how lucky he was. He sent a prayer for Rose, and their unborn baby, hoping they were in a good place.

"What are you smiling at?" Artyom's velvety voice whispered in his ears.

James saw him perched on the armrest of his seat, drink in hand. "At this." He gestured with his hand around the room.

"You deserve all of it, and more." Artyom threw a hand around his waist, and kissed the top of his head.

Ada was thanking her parents for their presents which was a baby bean bag. Next was Jack, and Nora's, a food, and bottle warmer, and then a bouncing cradle from Gideon. She thanked him with a long kiss. No one had been surprised they had finally become a couple. James was happy for them.

Ada finally got to Artyom and James's present, a traveling crib, and on the go changing matt. She leaned over, and kissed their cheeks. "Thank you guys."

"There's so much more." James beamed.

"Yes, Let the baby be born. They'll be spioled by everyone." Artyom agreed, grinning.

Ada chuckled. "That's what I'm afraid of."

James linked his fingers through Artyom's, thankful for his second chance. He couldn't be happier.

Then he saw her.
