"I can't deny that I don't hate you."

Siege
I was standing by the passageway, ready to inform the others that it was time to move. I had the backpack my grandmother gave me strapped over my shoulders. It contained all the needed resources for the next phases of our plan. It wasn't my own choice but I had to play around with her before we finally got her to the council. But by the time we were done with her, the council would be the least of her pain.
"Use your teeth..." Javan instructed Veéta as he bumped shoulders with her. Both he and Mia were sobering up from a fit of laughter. The scene caught my attention.
Mia at the other side of the counter, both her elbows on the wood leaning in with a gleam in her eyes and a smile of amusement.
"But I am!" Veéts whined in a mumble so her words sounded as if she was saying...
"Butiyam..."
Javan and Mia looked at her, looked at each other, and then fell into a fit of laughter once again.
"My UNCULTURED friend...your teeth." Mia said to her as she barely abled herself to sober up from her laughter. Mia showed her teeth and let her fangs show.
Veéta's eyes widened the slightest bit. I couldn't tell if it was from fear or slight amazement.
My grandmother assured me that Veéta was putting up a front but the girl I was seeing in front of me making my friends laugh didn't appear to be faking anything.
It was strange, she was nice but not. She didn't get out of her way to be a bitch but she wasn't afraid of speaking her mind. She was afraid of serious situations and used humor as a defect mechanism. She was naive and sleek at the same time. Even with her on and off personality, I was in no doubt that it wasn't a game to her. She was just confused.
That would make my job so easy.
Veéta closed her eyes for a moment with a look of determination on her face. Though, it only took her a few seconds to open her eyes once again with a pout.
"How exactly?" She questioned carefully as she gave a little smile of embarrassment.
"Aww, baby, want me to chew your food up for you?" Javan cooed mockingly as he bumped shoulders with Veéta once again.
Both of them found that extremely hilarious and started chuckling another round. My smile found its way to my lips.
Veéta wasn't like anything I expected her to be. She didn't need to say it. She wasn't like her family.
In the moment of laughter coming from Javan and Mia. Veéta's pout was joined by a frown and she genuinely seemed to peeved at the two. It was understandable, Javan and Mia became much to handle at times but there it was...
The very thing I was looking for in her.
Her eyes turned red and a look of anger came over her features. I was ready to step in if she were to attack again. She said so herself, she couldn't even control it. I needed not to as she gazed down at the meat and showed a ray of sharp teeth before devouring the food before her in what seemed to be an instant.
There was a sudden silence in the room. Javan and Mia seemed to be in awe. Mia was the first one to notice me as I walked into the scene with a look of seriousness back on my face.
"Time to go," I told everyone as I walked past the kitchen, through the living room to the front door. I was ready to leave. I was ready to get things moving.
