"Time flies when you're having fun."

Time flew.
It was a new year before I could decide what I wanted to do with it. There were a few things I needed to do before doing the whole human university thing. I was going to wait until things were a little less murky.
Instead of doing anything productive, I ended up counting down the seconds spent away from Siege.
We called every single day. I made sure to pester him every hour on the hour. He visited every weekend. My uncle let him stay at the Manor. There were many rooms for him to stay in. Not that we could do anything in the house. We were supernatural with supernatural abilities which included exquisite hearing.
Catching my drift?
It was the fun wholesome celibate PG love.
Sometimes it felt like I was being punished for something but I was handling it.
It happened slowly but Siege began to peel back a few layers. I got to see angles of him I didn't know were present. He smiled easily and laughed heartily at all my jokes. He was kind and reserved. I realised he was the type to lower himself for the comfort of others. I did my best to take care of him the way he was taking care of me. He was making me feel like it was ALL about me. I wanted it to be about the US. He told me he had to adjust to a toxic mentality to survive. He was trying to shake it off and head back to who he wanted to be.
Emotions and everything.
Video chats with Jordan were my favourite. She was helping Siege get better. She was helping him have fun. She was a good friend to him. I appreciated it.

I was stoically slipping on the straw of my juice box. Veéta's boring story progression monologue was boring the hay out of me. I stared at her lay awake on her bed, just thinking about things. Her cat was laying on her stomach in a meme-worthy way.
Veéta forgot to mention the fact that Prince and I were following her full time. We were on the balcony of her room. I was leaning back on the railing beside Price. Looking at her static figure through the sliding door that led to her room.
We couldn't leave her after what happened to Siege. He almost got KIDNAPPED. The kids would've been real messed up. The time-line would've been messed up! We needed to keep an eye on her to make things work. That was one of the reasons.
We were nearing the end of the first phase. When you neared the end, mistakes could not be avoided. The timeline could be altered because of the tiniest miscalculation. A simple sneeze. A thoughtless cough. It was scary business, okay?
What Veéta said was all true and dandy. Things were looking up for her. Not in an over-exciting way. Just in a steady mundane way that allowed inconspicuous changes to occur mildly along the passage of time.
Nobody talked about Mia and Javan. Did they stop to think for a moment what they were? Those two were vampires which meant they were under the Vampire council. If something went down, they'd be forced by ruling to go against their friends.
Sadly for them, it wasn't a magical world where choosing friendship would save the day.
If they didn't comply. They'd be Jexed and forced to do it against their will.
I highly doubted that they weren't informed of the tension against the councils by their parents. I'm sure they had it at the back of their heads. That they would have to betray their friends at some point of the other.
