"Enemy lines."
************
Not that I was incapable of spending more than five minutes away from Siege BUT he was sure taking his sweet time. Mr. Popular HAD to greet and converse with every walking being.
Club Demos was undoubtedly a hook-up bar. There were couples scattered around everywhere. Freely diverse and ominous to the reality.
He had left to head to the toilet FIFTEEN minutes ago. On his way there, I saw him being social and catching up with childhood friends. I was supposed to be the CENTRE of his world. How dare he have other people in his life?
When Siege came back from his little side adventure, he seemed TORN. As in, I've-seen-the-world-end-and-my-family-die type of look. When I asked him about it, he said they straight out traumatized him. He didn't go into detail but something was up.
Siege ordered drinks when we got to the bar. He drank as if he could get drunk like a human. It ended up making him edgy. He was barely entertaining me.
I was incredibly concerned.
Not enough to pry the truth out of him.
I trusted him to that degree.
I was standing by my lonesome by the bar. Waiting for Siege to come back. We had lost EVERYONE we came with, within the first five minutes of being in Club Demos. It was that grand and chaotic inside. There was a lot to do and see. I simply wanted to be with Siege.
I couldn't have been bothered to go try finding them.
I felt a hand grab me by the wrist to spin me around. I turned to bump into the chest with familiar smell. He wrapped his arms around me and buried me in a warm hug. His voice made me certain it was him.
''It's been a minute, Veéta. Annyeong (HI).'' He spoke to me in a soothing low tone as if he was fully aware of the high levels of panic I was developing. I didn't get a chance to react or calm down before he pulled me out of the hug held my hands in his.
His hands were soft but cold. It sent a sort of chill through me.
I looked up to assess the damage. Due to the power of social media, I already knew he grew and he grew well. He had been inactive for months, I didn't expect to see him with his hair grown. His waves were half up with a few loose at the front framing his face. I hadn't met him in years, he had grown and grown tall. I was cranking up my neck nodding at myself silently in the realization of how he couldn't have possibly stayed single walking around looking like that.
He smiled at me fondly as if he was more than happy to see a familiar face.
''Annyeonghaseyo (Hello).'' I greeted him back in Korean. That was the most I got from hanging out with him. I gave him a small smile as I swallowed the nerves.
''You're the strongest one here. You've finally unlocked your abilities.'' He told me with a proud smile. It brought a proud smile onto my face. That was much-needed validation.
Before I could reply, I felt someone brush past me to stand beside me. I whipped my head to see Siege glaring at Chin-hae with the saltiest look I had seen him with. He didn't hesitate to detach my hands from Chin-hae individually. He took my closest hand and interlocked it with his.
''What are you doing here?'' Siege went straight to asking. The interaction became strange right away. Did they know each other? HOW COULD THEY POSSIBLY KNOW EACH OTHER?
''I followed you.'' I could tell Chin-hae was joking when he said that from the goofy smile he was sporting. He didn't seem bothered by Siege's saltiness as if he knew Siege wasn't really like that.
BUT HOW?
''You shouldn't.'' Siege replied in a tone that knew that Chin-hae wasn't being serious but Siege was sending a warning about something else. Or maybe I was reading too much into it.
''Calm down, I read about Club Demos. I wanted to visit. As for Veéta, we go way back. We're childhood, not just friends, best friends.'' He explained to Siege calmly. He didn't break eye contact, they held eyes for a few seconds before Siege glanced at me in question.
He was asking.
Why have I never mentioned him?
IT WENT BOTH WAYS, BUDDY.
"Uh, yup. We were close. When we were like five." The last part of my words was directed to Chin-had as I narrowed my eyes at him.
He dares pop out of nowhere and acts as if were close. Hugging me, holding my hands, and knowing my boyfriend? That last part was the weirdest for me.
He chuckled at me as he gave me a look of question as if to challenge if what he said were lies. There was a grain of truth within it, I supposed.
BUT.
It was such a long time ago.
"Do you wanna dance? Siege doesn't look like much of a dancer. You love to dance, right? Besides, we have much to catch up on." Chin-hae asked simply as he outstretched his hand for me to take. He looked at me with an expression I could not decipher.
The book.
He wanted to talk about the THE BOOK. I was sure it was what led him to the Vixen. The book his parents left him about the supernatural before they died.
I wanted to hear all about it. What was his story? What led him to be able to be standing before me in a world he had BEEN chasing since he was nine.
I wanted to know how he knew Siege.
"Sure thing." I stepped forward only to be pulled right back beside Siege. He looked at me calmly. Behind those stoic eyes, his thoughts were sad.
"Please don't leave."
I blinked a couple of times at his tone.
What was up with the tone? Why did it sound like he was asking me not to leave him for good?
I gave him a look of question as I let myself stand comfortably beside him.
Why did Siege sound sad?
What did the time travelers show him?
Chin-hae chuckled at the interaction. He thought Siege was being a typical overprotective boyfriend.
I wish I could agree with him. Only, I didn't know what Siege was being.
"Let's go, Veéta." Siege told me, all triggered, looking. I gave him a look of question.
What else could I do but comply?

I know I don't usually write such short non-descriptive chapters but I didn't want to spend too much time on filler chapters. The one's that matter the most will be 3000 WORDS IF I SO NEED THEM TO ME.
Enjoy, anyway.
Lots of LOVE, AlimaBabes
