Remus' Choice

A/N: In this oneshot, Tonks and Remus were dating and not yet married, so Teddy doesn't exist. This idea was given by Frazzle303. 

3rd Person POV:

A flash of light and then nothing.

The next time Remus opens his eyes, he isn't at Hogwarts surrounded by death eaters and spells. Instead, he is a place he can only describe as made out of the colour white. 

Once his eyes adjust to the drastic change in lighting, he saw a gate in front of him. Remus walked towards it and it swung open once he was closer.

He walked in through the gate and the mist for what must have been five minutes before the white started to fade into other colors. He walked further in until he saw lines of houses and a huge sign in front of them with the words: "You Are Dead. Welcome to Heaven!"

That's weirdly optimistic, Remus thought. 

That is when he hears the voices of three very familiar and dear people.

"Remus! Oh my god, you are actually here!"

"I can't believe it, finally some brain cells around here."

"You wound me, Lily."

"Oh well, someone had to tell you the truth, James."

"Padfoot, you know she is also calling you stupid too, right?"

"Wha- Lily!"

James, Lily, and Sirius - his friends - in the flesh (well, Remus doesn't know if it's flesh but they are in front of him).

"Sirius...James...Lily...", Remus whispers scared that if he speaks louder they will vanish. Tears spring to his eyes before he can even process anything. "You guys are here..."

"We are here love, we won't be going anywhere," Lily says.

Remus lets out a whimper as the four friends hug each other, having met after years and years of loneliness, wrongful imprisonment, and death. 

Once the four pull apart, they hear someone behind Remus say, "Hey guys."

Remus turns around to face his (now also dead) girlfriend, Tonks. 

"Tonks, y-you too?", he asks though he already knows the answer. 

She simply nods in response. She seems shaken up by everything so Lily approaches her and wraps her arms around Tonks.

That's when James obliviously blurts out, "Remus, you love both Sirius and Tonks right? Who will you be with for forever though?"

Sirius immediately slaps Prongs' head while Lily glares at her husband. 

"Shut up Prongs," Sirius says. 

Remus doesn't respond, though he knows his answer immediately. 

A small laugh escapes Tonks' lips before she says, "I think we all know the answer to that question, don't we Rem?"

He looks at her apologetically. "I- I'm sorry, Tonks, you are amazing. But it's always been Sirius for me."

She smiles and replies, "I know, and I don't want to come between you too. This was fun while it lasted. Sirius, you better not hurt him or I will steal him from you."

Sirius laughs and says, "I wouldn't dream of it."

"Now come along you two, gotta give you guys the tour of your new home," Lily says as she walks alongside James and Tonks at the front, leaving Sirius and Remus alone in the back for a minute.

Sirius grabs Remus' hand. "I'm so glad I get to see you again. This time, I'm making sure I never let go."

Remus smiles at the love of his life, cups Sirius' face, and kisses him. Sirius melts at the familiar love and warmth that he missed for so long. 

"I love you, Si, so much."

"I love you too, Rem."

They smile at each other and walk behind their friends, holding hands into their forever.
