Rafael is brought into the fabrica's floor led by Segismundo. He is tied onto a long wooden board using torn strips of fabric, carried by two of the hacienda's workers. His right temple is bleeding. He is drifting in and out of consciousness.
Segismundo:
Lucas, Nai-pasundo na ba ang sirujano?
A panicked Segismundo asks Lucas, who is not far behind.
Lucas:
Naca-alis na po, Señor Segismundo.
The obrero informs him as they make their way through the fabrica floor. The activity of the workers on the fabrica floor grinds to a halt as they hear Segismundo loudly mouthing instructions.
Segismundo:
Doon! Tanggalin ang laman ng mesa, madali! Tubig na malinis!
Disteleria workers rush to take away the bottles and crates from the large wooden table near the window.
Segismundo:
Rafael! Rafael!
Segismundo grabs Rafael's face as they slowly move the wooden board to the table.
Segismundo:
Huwag mong i-picuit ang iyong mga mata! Cailangan mong manatiling guising—
Rafael:
Nasa—ahn ah—co...
Rafael could barely complete the words coming out of his mouth. Segismundo wipes the blood and dirt away from his cheeks with his hands.
Segismundo:
Nasa fabrica ca na— Nandito aco, Rafael. Huag mong ipi-picuit ang iyong mga mata, entiendes?
Almost pleading.
Segismundo tears open his muddy shirt, he checks on Rafael's torso. He then tears away at the sleeves. The bruising seems to be limited to Rafael's right arm.
Segismundo:
Sabihin ko sa acuin cung masacuit rito, Rafael.
He presses his fingers onto Rafael's right shoulder and tightens his hold.
Rafael turns his head from left to right.
Segismundo:
Bruno, vamos, ipa-alam mo sa Casa Cordero ang nangyari!
Segismundo shouts at one of the obreros.
Segismundo:
Uala ba tayong botiquin [medicine box] rito, Lucas?
He asks while checking the wound on Rafael's right temple.
Lucas:
Mayroon po, Señor.
He confirms.
Segismundo:
Ano pang hini-hintay mo? Dios mio!
Lucas rushes to the stairs leading up to the offices.
He runs past Solomon, looking worse for wear with his riding clothes and boots also muddied, who has just arrived.
Rafael:
May—mmm—aahyyy babae ss—sa laua...
Another obrero rushes in with the pitcher of water and a basin over to the table.
Solomon cuts him and stands on the other side of the
Solomon:
Rafael, may masacuit ba sa 'yo?
He grabs Rafael's left hand.
