Don Astolfo:

Indoy:
Opo.
Indoy breaks the seal and reads the letter.
Indoy:
At pina-aalam po ng gobernadorcillo na cayo po ay ina-anyayahan sa Casa Tribunal [Council Building] sa may Viernes ng alas nueve ng umaga para sa unang pulong ng mga Principalia [elite ruling class] may-ari ng mga hacienda, at mga comerciante [businessmen/merchants] dito sa San Angel.
Indoy informs Don Alfonso.
Don Astolfo:
Hindi ba ma-aaring icao na lamang ang mag-tungo sa arao na iyon?
Don Alfonso asks.
Indoy:
Cailangan rao po ang inyong presencia, Tio Astolfo.
Indoy points to a specific text in the letter of invitation.
Don Astolfo:
Cung hindi sa Cura, sa Gobernadorillo naman tayo macuicuipag-baile. At cuarta... Ang tunog ng cuma-calansing na barya ang tugtuguin ng canilang sayao.
Don Astolfo pauses.
He examines the book of accounts closely.
Don Astolfo:
Sino ang may gaua ng mga cuentang ito?
He shows Indoy the page.
Indoy:
Ang sa huling dalauang linggo po ng Febrero? Si Rafael po, tio.
He answers.
Don Astolfo:
Si Rafael?
Don Astolfo could not believe what he has just heard.
Indoy:
Hindi nio po ba cuilala ang canyang sulat-camay?
Indoy asks his uncle.
Don Astolfo:
Seguarado cang si Rafael ang may gaua nito?
Don Astolfo could not contain his disbelief.
Indoy:
Pati rin po ang cuenta sa casalucuyang linggo, tio. Ngunit hindi pa po tapos at bucas pa magba-bayad si Señor Mercado.
He adds. Don Astolfo flips the page to look at the entries for the first week of March.
Don Astolfo:
Sinuri mo ba ang mga ito? Ualang pagca-camali sa cuenta pati ang sa mga pa-utang?
He questions him further.
Indoy:
Sinuri co po nitong nag-daang gabi, Tio Astolfo.
Don Alfonso leans back on his chair.
Don Astolfo:
Malinis.
Don Astolfo looks impressed.
Don Astolfo:
Nahan si Rafael?
He asks for his son.
