Doña Mirza: Nasaan si Veronica?
Doña Mirza asks Drake as they admire the image of Inang while everyone else is busy chatting in small groups as light rainfall descends upon San Angel. Don Vicente and Doctor Francia are speaking with the Parish Priest who stepped in a few minutes ago.
Drake: She's busy with Doña Idang. I think they're planning to sing another number with Sean and Joaquin.
He informs her.
Doña Mirza could not help but lightly laugh at the idea. She makes the sign of the cross before turning away from the image of the Inmaculada Concepcion.
Doña Mirza: There is never a dull moment kapag nariyan si Candida.
She comments.
Doña Mirza: Your friend, si Veronica, ganyang-ganyan si Candida noong kabataan namin.
She says to Drake as she walks towards the chairs located to the left of Inang's temporary shrine.
Drake: Really? I can't imagine po.
He scoffs.
Drake: Doña Idang has got this air and sophistication about her that's clearly lacking with Veronica.
He draws the comparison as he follows Doña Mirza.
Doña Mirza: We all grow into our sophistications, Drake.
She tells him while taking her seat.
Drake sits beside her.
Drake: You never got to finish your story about your brother, si Matthew?
Drake suddenly remembers.
Doña Mirza: Yes, I never did get to finish that story. Saan na nga ba tayo sa kuwento ko?
She asks.
Drake: I recall it was the procession of Inang's painting that got violent and Timothy got injured.
Drake informs her where they stopped the last time.
Doña Mirza: I see.
She nods.
Drake: But if you're not up to it po, we can save the rest of that story for some other time.
Drake is quick to change the topic as he sees the expression on Dona Mirza's face turn unusally melancholy against the warm light coming from the lit candles before Inang's temporary shrine.
Doña Mirza smiles at Drake.
She reaches for his left hand and lightly squeezes it.
Doña Mirza: Your eyes do remind me of Matthew's. Nasabi ko na ba sa 'yo?
He smiles back at her and squeezes back at the elderly lady's hand.
Drake: Opo, when we went to your house the first time.
He happily tells her.
She takes her time before proceeding.
Doña Mirza: The last time I saw Matthew was on a Sunday after the morning mass. Nag-paalam sila nina Timothy na ma-mamasyal sila.
