Chapter Eighteen: The Angel

- - -

Shamie's POV

Ayan na nga, naligaw na nga. Malas, malas ata yung kotse. Malas talaga.

I stop the car sa tabi. Nasa mataong lugar naman kami, I just don't know kung anong lugar ito.

"Why did we stop? Is there something wrong?" He ask while handling me the phone.

How can I say that we're lost? That we lost? How can I say it calmly?

"I don't know where we are. I think we're lost?" I said calmly, calmly but I know that my inner self is now at panic.

I rest my forehead sa steering wheel and curse myself in a very calm way.

Hay, ang tanga mo Shamie. . .

"It's okay. I think I know where we are." Thaniel said.

I look at him and I had to lean back because his face is inches away from mine.

A smile visible on his face, not really a smile though, he's trying not to laugh. He continued staring at me, not breaking the silence, not breaking our eye contact.

But what he did next almost made me stifle a shriek. He reached for my face and gently pinched my right cheek.

"Neo gwiyeobda." He said softly, forming a genuine smile on his face.

(Translation: You're cute.)

"Ha?" I ask, whispering. Still not comfortable, there's only a bit space between our faces.

Nakakahiya, baka bad breath ako!

Ano ba yung sinabi nya? Can he just say it in english? Bakit nag-korean pa sya? Or maybe, he don't really want me to understand what he just said.

But even though I can't understand it. It seems like my heart know what that means. May sakit na ata ako, sakit sa puso. It keeps on beating so fast.

I think I need to stop drinking coffee.

But, I don't drink coffee.

And I think, ngayon gusto ko na mag-kape. Para magising ako.

I just wish for one thing. Only one thing. Na sana, he wouldn't hear my heart pounding so loud.

And thanks a lot, lumayo na sya sakin. That I've finally realized that I'm holding my breath for a short span of time.

"Do you want me to drive?" He said, breaking the silence. Nakahawak nga ako sa steering wheel, pero hindi ko naman ipinagpatuloy yung pagda-drive ko.

"I can manage. Do you know where this place is?" I ask and show him the address Erlyn sent to me. Where we'll pick up something for the upcoming concert.

"Yeah. I'll show you the way." He said so I started driving again.

"Did you eat breakfast?" I asked while driving. I was thinking on how to start a conversation with him and that's the first question that come to my mind.
