(Shujin means master in Japanese. Shoto calls Shigaraki this as a sign of his respect and loyalty to him.)

Todoroki Shoto was alone in his house, feeling a bit gloomy. Today was his birthday, and it was supposed to be a nice evening. Fuyumi, Natsou, Enji, and Rei were supposed to spend time with Shoto for his birthday. But, just as his luck would make it, they were all too busy.

Enji had multiple meetings with the press, and most likely would not be home until late.
Rei went out with a few childhood friends of hers for dinner, Midoriya Inko and Bakugou Mitsuki.
Fuyumi had to stay in late at school because of parent-teacher conferences and paper work.
Natsou had finally asked a girl he had been talking to for awhile by now on a date to the movies. Today at school, only his friends Midoriya, Tsuyu, Uraraka, Iida, Momo, and shockingly Bakugou, wished Todoroki a happy birthday. But, they were all busy too today.

Shoto was never one to be excited about his birthday. He found it redundant, and honestly hated it. He never once had a happy birthday, mostly because it was always ruined by something, or people just forgot to celebrate it. So, with that environment, Todoroki just grew to ignore that his birthday was even a thing to remember. But, it still hurt him some when he didn't get time to be with his family, or what little of a family they were, on his date of birth. Todoroki laid on the couch on his right side, halfway watching the cartoon that was playing on the TV screen. His arms were crossed nonchalantly, eyes listless, as if he was bored or in a trance. Todoroki suddenly groaned in annoyance, sitting up and rubbing at his different colored eyes. They were constantly leaking, as if he had something to cry about. He was confused by this, and it annoyed him.

' Knock it off already! It's like this every year, just suck it up. ' Todoroki scolded himself, ignoring his throat becoming tight and dry, his bottom lip quivering slightly, and his eyes stinging as they produced more tears. He was such a cry baby. Todoroki leaned his head back, trying to stop the crying that way. It didn't work too well. Suddenly, there was a knock on the front door, which broke the silence in the room, and nearly made Todoroki jump out of his skin. Todoroki was confused, who could that be? Hesitantly, Shoto got up from the couch, walking over to the front door. Leaning against the door, Shoto checked through the door's peephole. Through it, he saw a tall man dressed in black except for his red shoes, cornflower blue hair, pale scarred skin, and a hand over his face. Todoroki felt tension relax from his back muscles, and he unlocked the door. "Hi Shujin-Kun, please come inside." Shoto stepped aside, letting the taller male inside the house.

Shigaraki swiftly stepped inside, hearing the shorter male close and lock the door behind them. Shigaraki held a big brown paper bag, with his pinkie finger held out, obviously. In the other hand, Shigaraki held a balloon with a bag of sand tied to the end of it's string. Shigaraki began walking towards the kitchen, already knowing where it was, having been in the Todoroki house many times before. Todoroki followed his boss, unsure why he was there. He hadn't texted or called him before hand, which was unusual for Shigaraki. "Is something wrong?" Todoroki asked, feeling a bit worried and on edge.
"No. Why would something be wrong?" Shigaraki asked in his raspy voice, setting the bag down on the counter.

"It's j-just that, you always text me before you come over. It's strange for you to do something differently." Todoroki explained his reasoning, pointing out Shigaraki's own strict way of doing things. Shigaraki removed Father, an amused smirk on his usually annoyed or bored face. He found it adorable that Shoto knew the way he did things.
"I wanted to surprise you." Shigaraki adjusted the bag of sand so the balloon was moved a certain way.
"Surprise?" Todoroki repeated in a gentle mutter, his pointer finger coming up to touch his bottom lip in bewilderment, similar to Asui. Todoroki then noticed that, in what was in most likely black marker, read; Happy Birthday.
"It's your birthday, dummy. Did you forget your own birthday?" Shigaraki asked, giving a light chuckle.

"N-no, haha, I uh..didn't forget." Todoroki smiled with embarrassment, realizing he did sound a bit unsure about today's occasion. As Todoroki sat at the counter, Shigaraki reached into the paper bag, shuffling his hands carefully around before grasping two items from it. Pulling them out, Todoroki saw that one of the things the bag had contained was a orange plastic dome container. The other item was a rectangular shaped wrapped present.
"I'm guessing everyone decided they had better things to do today besides celebrate your birthday?" Shigaraki questioned, scratching at his neck.
"It's not like that, they just--uh..." Todoroki wanted to make up an excuse for both his family and friends, but, he was running out of them. Todoroki let out a defeated sigh, hanging his head in shame. He could just say that they were all busy, but he knew it didn't matter.

"Well, it doesn't matter," Shigaraki said blatantly, nudging his hood off his head and onto his shoulders, "the others are coming over in a few minutes. Toga just wanted everyone to pick out a present for you." Todoroki blushed, a grateful smile on his usually monotone face. "Well, while we're waiting for them all, open what I got for you. Since i'm the only one who got it before hand.." Shigaraki mumbled the last part sentence, handing over his wrapped present.
"Th-thank you, Shujin." Todoroki thanked, his heart nearly skipping a beat.
"Don't thank me yet, you haven't even seen what it is." Shigaraki leaned up against the counter, crossing his arms, watching as Todoroki began to unwrap the gift. What had been inside the wrapping paper was a picture frame, decorated messily with stickers of fire, knives, hearts, bandages, cards, and video game controllers.

The picture itself looked like it had been taken recently. It was of Shigaraki, Dabi, Twice, Toga, Spinner, Kurogiri, Mr. Compress, and Big Sis Mange. They were all in the kitchen, looking like they were baking a cake, since frosting, sprinkles, and flour was on everything and everyone. Shigaraki had been the one taking the picture, everyone looking to the camera behind him. Everyone was smiling, even Dabi had a small grin on his face, hand giving a paused halfway wave to the camera. Twice was pointing finger guns towards the camera, Toga beside him, waving with both her hands. Bis Sis Mange was pointing to her smile with both of her pointer fingers, as if reminding Todoroki to smile. Spinner was similar to Dabi, his smile small, since he rarely did smile, even for pictures, busying pulling on oven mitts. Kurogiri was mixing what was most likely frosting in a large blue bowl, Mr. Compress holding up a card that read; Happy b-day

"You okay? Your crying again." Shigaraki pointed out, not expecting Todoroki to cry. Before he realized it, Todoroki hugged Tomura tightly, nearly taking him to the floor. "I'm guessing your happy?" Tomura guessed, hesitant to hug Shoto back due to his quirk. The younger male nodded, a big smile on his face. Balling his fists up, Shigaraki hugged Todoroki back with a blush on his pale scarred face, still so unused to being physically touched. There was knocking at the back door, and turning their heads, Shigaraki and Todoroki saw the rest of the League outside.
"Shoto! Did we scare you two??" Toga questioned as Twice pressed his masked face against the glass. Todoroki giggled at this, breaking the hug to go unlock the back door. Shigaraki smiled, a spark of joy flooding him as he saw his team pour into the house, hugging Todoroki, showing him actual love. At least with them, he was appreciated.
