👄Say It💙

The loud cry of Shoto's alarm awakens both him and the man laying beside him, who in response lets out a very annoyed-sounding groan. "I thought I told you to change that damned ringtone." Shigaraki reminds, voice gruff from sleep.
Todoroki nods while rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, "I know, sorry. I've been caught up in some stuff. I'll change it at some point today." Letting out a huff, Shigaraki's fists clenching tight when he feels the bed's weight get lighter. Ruby red eyes squeeze shut even tighter, stomach flip-flopping inside the villain's guts.

Despite knowing he'd never verbally admit this, Shigaraki knew that he hated this more than any other part of his weekly schedule. And with every passing day this occurs, the more he grows to resent both UA and that stupid alarm clock. The villain was even tempted a couple times to disintegrate Shoto's phone while he was asleep, just so neither would suffer through that harrowing noise. Time goes by; Shoto gets changed into his uniform, does his hair and brushes his teeth, the whole shabang. Through it all Shigaraki grits his teeth and forces himself to keep quiet, knowing that nothing he could say would stop this.

He hears his partner approach his side of the bed, his usual monotone-sounding voice speaking, "I should be back some time after school." Although he hums in acknowledgement, it still sounded like too much time for the villain to bear. It was quiet for a few moments after, making Shigaraki think he was alone. However, he was proven wrong as he felt a gentle hand brush his long bangs out of his face, a kiss being gingerly placed on his forehead. Instantly his face grew hot, eyes opening up just as Shoto moved away. With a soft, "Love you." the younger patters out of the room, his own face burning up.

Shigaraki continues to lay there, Shoto's voice saying 'Love you' constantly replaying in his mind over and over again. Now, Tomura Shigaraki wasn't the verbal type to admit feelings. Most of the time whatever emotion he was feeling could be seen through his actions. They were mainly negative emotions since Tomura is a negative person. So, when his boyfriend told him things like 'I love you' it was difficult for the man-child to reciprocate those words, even though he really wanted to. He did love Shoto, quite a lot actually. The only thing he has responded to 'I love you' is stuff like: 'yeah..' or 'I feel the same'.

Shoto was the only person besides Master that Tomura genuinely cared about and who genuinely cared about him. Every single time he couldn't bring himself to repeat those simple little words, no matter how hard he tried to force himself. It was just speaking! He could do that just fine! Why couldn't he just say it?! Releasing a frustrated groan, Shigaraki grabbed at his face with his hands, digging blunt nails into his scalp; yet another thing to hate about himself. Sitting up in bed, Shigaraki sighs with a shake of his head. He lightly touches the spot where Shoto had kissed him, heart skipping a beat at the faint sensation that still lingered there.

"Next time he says that," Shigaraki speaks out loud to himself, "i'm going to say it back. I'm gonna push past this nervous-awkward-commitment fear and say that I love him back. Even if it kills me, i'm going to say it!"

Later on that day....

Shigaraki was in his bedroom, fidgeting around with his cork board and the red string attached to each little picture. Currently, he was trying to figure out why everyone was all of a sudden so hung up on that idiotic hero killer. What was so different about them that made everyone seem to admire Stain but hate him?? Anger was bubbling up like boiling water inside a pot, but just as the man-child was about to blow his top and begin tearing down the board in rage the sound of his phone dinging distracted. He had gotten a text. Grumbling to himself about being bothered, this grouchy attitude practically vanished as he saw that the text was from Shoto.

Shoto: I overheard a few of my classmates talking about going to the mall after school. Midoriya is going with them.
This news makes Shigaraki grin a bit, maybe that green-headed brat could give him some answers to this Stain nonsense.
Tomura: Thanks for the info. I'll definitely look into it
Shoto: You're welcome. I have to get started on this essay, i'll see you tonight. Love you.

Shigaraki's heart briefly stops. This was it; his chance to say it back. Hands beginning to tremble and sweat, Shigaraki stared at his phone screen with an intense stare as he slowly began to type out the few letters: "I lo" before his entire body froze up. Shit, why was this so fucking stressful?? His heart was hammering inside his chest and it seemed that it was going along the pattern of which sweat was beading and dripping down his forehead. At least one hundred butterflies were inside his gut, fluttering around and making him feel nauseous.

Before his brain could properly process what he was doing, Shigaraki threw his phone across the room. Thankfully it landed safely on his bed, sustaining no physical damage. He collapsed down flat on the floor, laying his face down against the wooden floorboards and folding his hands over his head. Nope nope nope, couldn't do it. It was too much on his sanity. Banging his fist against the floor beside his head, Tomura began muttering out curses, "Fuck me, fuck life, fuck this stupid fear.." before letting out an obnoxiously loud groan. "I don't get it!" He proclaimed to himself, "I'm such a fucking failure, fuck!"

For the life of him, Shigaraki just couldn't understand himself. He loved Shoto, he really did! He knew he did. He loved him so much that at times it hurt physically to be away from him. Rolling over onto his back, Shigaraki stares up at his ceiling blankly. ' I wonder if Shoto goes through this too..' He wonders to himself, trying to distract himself. Though he says it a whole lot more than Shigaraki, Todoroki only said it a couple times a week. Maybe he also had a similar nervousness? Sitting up against his bed, Tomura reaches across and grabs his phone, deleting what little of a message was there before shutting the device off. He'd try again next time.

A couple weeks later...

Shigaraki and Todoroki were walking along the sidewalk, the sky pitch black as a light flurry of snow fell from it. The two were laughing over the reaction of the small-time hero they had just killed. The murder didn't serve as a purpose, both had just been frustrated and wanted to blow off steam. Unfortunately enough for the poor hero, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time and it cost them their life. Not that this death meant much for either young men; to them this kill was just for fun and hey, one less hero to deal with in the future.

As their laughter eventually begins to settle down, Shigaraki feels a feeling of euphoria that he only got when around Shoto. Subconsciously he lets out, "I love you." slip from his lips. He pauses; He did it. He actually said it! And it was so easy! It fell from his lips so smoothly too, like silk. Taking notice of the fact that he was no longer being followed, Shigaraki looked behind him at Todoroki to see what he was doing. There he found the younger standing as still as a statue, fat streams of tears sliding down his cheeks. Panicking--he has never seen Todoroki cry before--Shigaraki races back over and rubs at the tears with his sleeve.

"What's wrong?? Why are you crying?? Was it something I said??" Shigaraki interrogates, the young male in front of him seemingly still in some sort of shocked state. Blinking, a small smile tugs at the corners of Todoroki's mouth. Brushing away Shigaraki's limbs, Todoroki rubs at his own eyes to clear them of his blurry tears. "Sorry, I didn't mean to react like that." Todoroki apologizes, "I'm just really happy." Todoroki lowers his hands and his gaze locks onto bold red eyes, "You're the first person to say that they love me in a very long time."

Stunned by the response, Tomura stared at his boyfriend dumbfounded before voices approaching them spooked both villains. Quickly he took Shoto by his sleeve and yanked them into a dark alley, making sure that neither of them were seen. A few moments passed, the small group of people passing by without even noticing the criminals in hiding. Still, the two kept quiet until they were sure the civilians were out of ear shot. Todoroki sighs, "That was tense. Do you think they'll find -" The fire/ice user was cut off by being yanked forward, letting out a grunt as he was embraced rather tightly.

Burying his face into the crook of his partner's neck, Shigaraki doesn't make any hints or attempts to break away. "You okay?" Todoroki asks. Shigaraki doesn't reply, instead squeezing Todo tighter and kissing at the bare skin on his neck. Hearing that he was the only person to say 'I love you' to Shoto filled Tomura with both pride and heartache.
Finally he pulled away, hooking his pinkie finger around Shoto's own, "Let's go home." Nodding, Todoroki followed his boss back to his hideout, a small smile still on his face.
