"Whatchu looking at?" I asked curiously.

"Nothing, it isn't important." He said without looking up.

"Well, it clearly is important if it has all your attention on it." I said with an noticeable attitude.

"I don't think it is important, so don't mind it." He said as he looked at me, setting it face down. Something smells fishy, I thought to myself. I looked at Erica and she raised her hands.

"Don't look at me baby girl, I wouldn't know anything." She said as she turned back around to wash the dishes.

He grabbed my hands as I looked at him with knitted eyebrows. "Don't knit your eyebrows, you'll get frown lines on your pretty little forehead." He said as I looked at him like he was crazy, because he clearly was going crazy or he is about to see some crazy.

His phone vibrated and he immediately dropped my hands within a second. He picked up his phone and I looked at him with a glare. He doesn't seem to notice and types away. I picked up my food and looked at Erica, she called Mel over so she could drop us to my house.

"Momma?" Amelia said. It made everyone turn at her and then look at Vincent, who was still paying no mind. I walked to her as she met me halfway.

"I got to go, girlie. I'll be back when your Daddy is more attentive." She pouted her lips and raised her hands, signal to pick her up. I lifted her up and kissed her forehead as she gave me a kiss on my cheek.

"I'll be back okay? You're a big girl, take care of Daddy until I come back. Okay?" I hugged her tightly as she returned the hug. She gave me a faint smile, I knew she is upset about me leaving. I kissed her forehead and she simply faintly smiled again. I looked at Vincent who was still, not paying attention.

Erica, Mel, and I silently drove to my house. I sat in the back while Mel and Erica were in the driver and passenger's seat.

"Nova, listen. I don't know what's up with him but as you can clearly see that little girl is growing a really deep attachment to you. I've been around her since day one and she has never called anyone momma. And within a month she is calling you her mother?" Erica said.

"She said it in front of him last night before us three went to bed." I mentioned.

"Genni, she said it twice?" Mel said.

"Yeah, I was speechless too. I didn't think she would love me that much. Erica, she never called anyone mom before? What about her mother?"

"I highly doubt she remembers what she looks like." She said at a red light.

"When was the last time she saw her?"

"Like when she was about seven weeks." Erica said with a tone of disappointment.

"Why did she leave that early in her life? She's three years old now? She's beautiful. She's smart, she's a loving baby girl. What dumb bitch leaves her child like that without a legit excuse?" I said almost yelling.

"Wow, I didn't know you felt that strong about her Genni." Mel said with shocked eyes. I looked at myself not knowing that I sounded the way I did about this little girl.

"I didn't even notice that I was that strong or protective about her." I said quietly.

"How about for the weekend, you stay over our house? Vincent is going to make a drop with Josh and I have to work. You can bring your homework and anything else, just see what happens if you stay with her for a weekend." Erica said.

"Yeah, try it Genni." Mel said while agreeing.

"Why should I? Vincent wouldn't be paying any attention to me if he comes back home. He probably just take her out of my arms and go upstairs with her." I said with my arms crossed.

"If he does, just grab your things and go home." Mel said.

"No. Just did there and get your school shit done, when I come home, we will talk about it." Erica said.

"Erica, is there someone else?" I asked sternly.

"No, no. I think he's just really focused on this drop that's coming in on tomorrow." She said.

"Then why isn't Josh in the same mood?"

"Josh drops everything once he hears the word Melanie." Erica said as Mel blushes to herself.

"Lucky." I mumble under my breath as she pity smiles at me.

We pulled up to my house and someone's car was already parked outside the house, we heard yelling, Mel and I looked at each other in confusion.

"Hey, that's my parents car. What's going on?"
