We went up to my room and Mel fell onto my bed, pulling out her phone.
"Your mom is picking you up?" I asked.
"Or my dad." She said as she called.
My phone vibrated and it was Vincent, I was hesitant to pick it up at first, but managed to gain some confidence.
Vincent- I'm sorry for scaring you like that. I know tonight didn't go exactly how I planned it.I smiled and replied with an smiley face, saying:
Don't worry about it."Givoanna!" My little 13 year old brother said.
"What?" He busted through my door.
"You know Mommy and Daddy went to Melanie's house, looking for the both of you right?" He said while looking at his tablet and not looking up. Mel and I looked at each other in shock.
"You're kidding!" Mel and I said simultaneously.
"Yeah I know I am. But they did ask where you guys were." He said while laughing.
"We were at a friend's house, discussing about outfits for school's dance team. Her big sister dropped us here and my dad is about to come pick me up." Mel clearly lied on the spot, which I give her credit for because I can't do that. I'm a terrible liar.
He replied with a simple okay and closed my door, going to his room.
"Genni, are you okay?" She asked while hugging me.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" I lied.
"Cause Vincent has a daughter." I look at her and looked down.
"Yeah, I know." I walked up to get undressed as she tossed me back the clothes she borrowed the other day. She remained silent for a second and watched my face expression.
"Givoanna. Really? I've been your best friend since the sixth grade. I know you like the back of my hand. I know when something is wrong with you. Tell me." She said. I took a big breath and sighed.
"I'm just overwhelmed with this. He has a daughter and I like being someone's full attention, like the apple of their eye. I can't be it for Vincent because he has a daughter and she will always come first before me. It just hurts. And she's gorgeous adding on to that, she is going to grow up to be a beautiful light skin daddy's princess. If Vincent stays with me for that long I'm just going to be Daddy's wife or girlfriend." My voice faded with the last sentence as I turned away and looked at my phone. Mel looks at me speechless, not knowing what to say, I looked down and remained silent. She came over to me, giving me a light smile as she hugged me.
"Trust me, you'll be the apple to his eye. It's just sometimes you're going to have to be okay with coming in second place when it comes to a situation like that. I really don't know what to say." She hugs me tighter as I looked up and gave a fake smile. My little brother comes running through my door.
"Melanie, your dad's here." She nods her head and hugs me one last time and kisses my cheek before leaving.
"I'll text you later, alright Ma?" She said, I gave her a thumbs up as she left. As she closed my door, I looked out to the window and frowned upon it. My phone vibrated to an unknown number and it was a text. Only to find out that it was Erica.
Erica- hey babes, I asked Vincent for your #, I hope that's okay with you.Me- yeah no problem, Erica (:
Erica and I spent the whole night talking about Vincent, she told me about his baby mother, who I could understand why Erica doesn't like her. She was a female dog with a captial B. She purposely trapped Vincent for what? She knew that he was going to be big, that he was going to go somewhere in life. That's only a thot ass move. It frustrated me a lot, to know that she jeopardized only herself at the same damn time.
Erica- you know Vincent likes you right?Me- why cause I'm dark?
Erica- yes and no he likes you because he thinks you're different from all these other thot ass girls running around here
the first time he met you he came home just running to me bout this beautiful dark skin girl he saw
how he was turned on bout your body I never laughed so hard in my lifeMe- really?
Erica- yeah really now go to sleep
Me- yes ma'am goodnight Erica (:
