The sun is also a star

Lucifer walked hand in hand with Chloe on the beach where they had their first kiss. They'd stopped at a burger truck and had eaten as they walked.

"You know, Detective, you never really asked me about Hell, did you want to?" Chloe shook her head,

"What do you mean?"

"Well, when I told Linda she had questions about who was down there. Hitler, Stalin, Dahmer, all down there by the way."  Chloe nodded, thinking,

"With all those dangerous people, will you be safe?" Lucifer was taken aback.

"Really? I tell you that you can ask me anything about Hell and I'll answer honestly and you want to know if I'll be safe?"

"You're an idiot, Lucifer."

"Oh?"

"When are you going to understand, you're my-" Chloe was a loss for the right word, 'boyfriend' didn't seem like enough, neither did 'partner' but that's what he was.

"You're my soulmate." The word took Lucifer aback for a moment, but it also reminded him of something.

"Allow me to tell you a story, Detective." Chloe looked at him. Yes, he was the devil, but he was also an angel. That was never more apparent to her. Samael, the light-bringer, her angel. The mid-day sun shone around his figure, making him look more heavenly than ever before.

"When my father created humans, they had had four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces. It is said that humans had great strength at the time and threatened to conquer Dad. So, he split them in half, these split humans were in utter misery. They wouldn't eat, wouldn't sleep, and then eventually they would die so he gave them a gift. An internal magnet if you will, a soul. Each human's soul pulls them towards another human's soul. When the two find each other, there is an unspoken understanding of one another, that they feel unified and would lie with each other in unity and would know no greater joy than that. You, my dear Detective, were a miracle, as you know. Sent here by dear old dad. You were never split from a human and neither was I. Being heaven-sent makes you the only human whose soul could ever fit with mine." Chloe smiled and pulled him down into a kiss,

"Incredible," she whispered into his mouth. He smiled and let his forehead fall against hers.

They continued walking and when they got to their spot, they stopped. Chloe sighed, watching the sunset.

"What is it Love?"

"While I would totally punch God in the faec for everything he did to you, some of the things he made are truly beautiful."

"Mmm. I agree, you're quite stunning." Chloe smiled at him,

"Thank you, but I meant the sun." Lucifer scoffed,

"My father didn't make the sun." Chloe scrunched her forehead,

"Then who did?"

"Me," he said nonchalantly, "I created all the stars." He looked over and found Chloe gaping at him.

"Did I say something wrong?" She shook her head,

"I just keep forgetting how...powerful you are. You did that," she pointed at the sun,

Lucifer gave her a half smile, "It's just a giant ball of fire." She shook her head, standing close to him, her lips almost touching his, but just before they could kiss, her phone rang. She stepped back and he groaned.

"You know, there's nothing wrong with ignoring your phone, Detective."
