Lucifer smiled over at the detective. They were in his Corvette on the way to the beach. He parked, go out, and went around to open her door. They enjoyed talking walks on the beach. A change of scenery to help jog their minds regarding the cases the worked. Plus, Chloe had a rule, they were partners at work, nothing more. The beach though, the beach was private, or at least private enough that if Lucifer -or Chloe- desired it, they could kiss and hold hands. Lucifer didn't love the work rule, but he understood it. If they were in Hell, he wouldn't want her to kiss him or hold his hand in front of the demons. She would never go to Hell though, so it wasn't a problem.
The case Chloe and Lucifer were working on was a homicide, their main suspect a vintage car dealer, but they didn't have enough to bring him in just yet.
"Luce," she'd begun to call him that when they started spending time together outside of work, it was less syllables, "How'd you get your cars?"
"Mostly favors, but I have many cars, wouldn't want to bore you with my stories."
"Yeah, okay. How'd you get the Corvette? A favor?" Lucifer opened his mouth,
"Well, not exactly." Chloe reached over and took his hand intertwining their fingers, he smiled at her.
"Then how'd you get it?"
"Unfortunately, I cant tell you that, Detective." Chloe looked at him, surprised,
"Why not?"
"You asked me not to tell about the crimes I've committed. Something about not wanting to arrest your husband." He smirked at her. She scoffed, mouth open, but couldn't hide her amusement,
"Lucifer!" She stopped and smacked his chest lightly, "You stole the Corvette?" Lucifer just smiled at her, confirming her suspicions.
"You know, that was around the time I saw you for the first time." Chloe resumed walking, nodding for him to continue.
"A fighter, Aiden Scott I believe, was killed by the owner of his gym because he wouldn't take a fall. Anyway, it just so happened that Amenadiel was also shot by the gym owner guy and his necklace was taken. The fighting ring happened to be where LUX is now and your suspect ran while I was talking to the sleazy agent fellow."
Chloe laughed, "I remember that case, Dan kept telling me to butt out but I didn't and eventually that case is the reason I got promoted to Detective." Lucifer smiled at her,
"Quite the coincidence, love. That's the day I bought LUX and had Maze sever my wings." Chloe winced a bit, she didn't like that he had cut off his wings. She rather loved them. Especially when he would have a nightmare and she'd wake up in a cocoon of white feathers.
"I guess you've been making me a better detective since the very beginning." Lucifer pulled her close and dipped her dramatically kissing her softly. Suddenly his phone went off. Lucifer sighed, setting her back down.
"These bloody phones, always ruining the moment," Lucifer pulled out his phone, the message was from Trixie. "Looks like this interruption was from the offspring. Apparently they missed their bus." Lucifer slid his hand into Chloes and they walked back towards their Corvette.
