A/N I seriously dont know what this is, but it was in my drafts

Lucifer was supposed to be at dinner thirty minutes ago.  He knew how important this dinner was and had promised Chloe he'd be on time. After what felt like months of sitting in silence with her mother, waiting for Lucifer's arrival, Chloe finally heard the knick on the door that signaled his arrival. She jumped up and walk towards the door to her mothers house a bit too quickly for someone who was calm.

When Chloe opened the door, she stopped dead in her tracks.

"What?" She asked quietly but Lucifer didn't answer her. Instead he forced a smile,

"Sorry I'm late." Penelope Decker smiled a huge smile at Lucifer,

"Oh that's alright. Come in, come in. It's cold out." He walked in and turned to greet Penelope, but Chloe stopped him.

"What happened to your eye?" She turned his chin with her hand to get a better look at it. He gently pulled her hand down.

"It's a long story, I don't want to bore you." Mrs. Deckers eyes widened,

"Oh, this is new?"

"Brand new," Chloe answered, looking concerned.

"It looks bad, does it hurt." Lucifer shook his head and gave Penelope another charming smile,

"As long as I'm still pretty." She laughed but Chloe was still concerned. Lucifer wasn't acting like himself.

"Is it why you were late?" Lucifer shook his head at his girlfriend,

"No, 84 was jammed." Penelope shot her daughter a look, silently scolding her rudeness and watched as Lucifer unconsciously stepped forward, shielding Chloe from the look.

"We knew that too. There was something with a big rig. Oh those things, they scare the life out of me and apparently all the men who drive them are hopped up on Bennys and goofballs." No one said anything so she continued, leading them towards the dining room,

"Come, Come. Have a sea at the table, I'll go check on dinner." Chloe put a hand on Lucifers stomach and stepped in front of him to stop him from following.

"Shouldn't we go with her?" Chloe ignored him,

"Were you in a fight?" He was really in no mood to talk about it, but he couldn't lie to her, s he avoided the question,

"Dinners waiting, Detective."

"Lucifer, were you in a fight?" He stifled a sigh,

"I told you, it's a long story. I don't want to talk about it."

Chloe wasn't ready to give in, "why?" Lucifer took a deep breath,

"Look, Detective, I'm already in a bad mood. Traffic sucked. Traffic I hate on the way to a function I didn't particularly want to go to and I can't afford to make that mood any worse if I am to be polite to your mother, so, let's eat." He inclined his head towards the dining room.

She followed him in there, standing behind hi in the doorway as Penelope walked back in. He smirked at Chloe,

"So, done eat standing up?" She pointed him towards a chair and in a flat tone directed, "over there."

"The roast looks perfect," Penelope announced dramatically, her heels clicking on the floor. She sat at one end of the table, Lucifer and Chloe sat on either side facing each other. Chloe's mom and Lucifer chattered on about something trivial for a few moments before Chloe interrupted,
