[The Mamas & The Papas]
___

Mista had speedily biked home after school that day, making sure that Fugo and Narancia didn't suspect anything from him when he broke off from them at the intersection that they usually depart at. Fugo was going over to Narancia's to help him with some homework and asked if he wanted to go with them but he refused, telling them that his mom wanted him to do some stuff at home. Which was a lie, a bad one at that, not only was Mista bad at lying but he chose the worst thing to lie about.

Guido's mother was a kind woman, Narancia's was as well but he was still disciplined and had to help out when appropriate. Mista's mom, however, coddled him and was quick to show how much she loved her son by doing anything she could to make him happy. She felt that she had to make it up to Mista for his father's passing but the boy didn't even remember him, having been too young when he died.

He used to abuse how much she was willing to give him, asking for new toys and things that would entertain him. Fugo's mother bought him a Millennium Falcon for his ninth birthday and both Narancia and Mista were envious of him even though they knew that he'd let them test it out. Narancia's mother didn't have enough money to spare for him to get one, which made him disappointed until he got it for his birthday the following year.

Mista was left with nothing but jealousy and envy for his friends and begged his mom to buy him it, seeing the look of worry and debate in her eyes making him pull the puppy eyes even more.

The next week, he came home to find it on his bed with a sticky note that had a heart and a few words written on it. Now, it was smaller things that he wanted, movies that him and his friends could watch except when they'd leave the next day he'd ask her to watch it with him. He'd ask for a board game so that he'd be able to play it with both his friends and his mother so that she wouldn't feel so excluded from his life. He loved his mother, and his father even though he didn't know him, he recognized how much she did for him.

Mista opened the front door of his house and stepped inside, kicking off his sneakers before running to his bedroom. His mother was in the living room and welcomed him back, their cat in her arms, "How was school today, Guido?" She questioned but only got the sound of her son's bedroom door slamming shut in response. The woman felt the cat she was holding jump at the noise and quickly stroked its fur to calm it, wondering what got Mista so worked up.

The boy dropped his bag on his bed and headed for his turtle's tank, smiling sadly at the little reptile as he picked it up from its habitat. "Sorry, No. 5. You're gonna be evicted for a little bit." Mista apologized while placing it on the carpeted floor of his bedroom before moving over to where his bag was. It whined but was ultimately ignored as its owner pulled the Ghostbusters ghost trap out of his back and pressed the button to open it.

Mista watched as his new pet dropped down into the tank and looked around at its new home, staring up at the hat wearing boy when it was done examining everything. He grinned at it before reaching in his bag and taking out the 3 Musketeers chocolate bar that had been supposedly melting in his pocket all day, according to Fugo. He broke off a few small pieces and sprinkled them into the tank for the little slime ball to eat, chuckling when it made a weird gurgle.

"Don't worry, they won't be able to take you from me, little guy."

_

His eyes burned as he unlocked the front door and walked into his house, his hand pushing the door closed while he slipped off his shoes. He could faintly hear his parents talking in the next room and rose a brow they suddenly stopped, his legs carrying him over to the dining room where they were sitting at the table with papers sprawled out across it.
