[Hold The Line]
___

Abbacchio glared at the passing scenery, ignoring (Y/n)'s humming and the music that played on the radio. He didn't tell Bruno where he was going, he didn't even tell him that he had left for Illinois, but he hoped that it was for the best. Bruno didn't need all of this when he had to worry about schoolwork or whatever it was that he did, one of them had to make it out of this shit hole.

"You know," (Y/n) started as he turned down the radio, taking glances to the white haired teen in the seat next to him. It was strange to see him in the seat that Bruno usually sat in, no one other than him and Catherine had sat there but Abbacchio looked just as natural sitting in it. "Bruno wasn't the only one that missed you." He remarked and Leone turned his head to see (Y/n)'s sincere expression, a small smile on the driver's face as he drove down the highway.

Abbacchio felt his heart suddenly begin to pick up and he narrowed his eyes, quickly looking away and discreetly pressing a hand to his chest. "I actually thought about being friends with you." He muttered and (Y/n)'s face brightened at the mention of it, his smile growing. "Until you decided to fuck it up and sleep with Diavolo."

(Y/n) sighed as his grip on the steering wheel tightened slightly, a saddened frown replacing his smile. "It's not like I sought him out, I've never even looked twice at a guy before him." He insisted and Abbacchio looked to the male, raising a brow at how unbelievable he sounded. Last year, with only knowing Bruno for a few days, spoke about him as if he was someone sent by god himself and he was just saying that as a 'friend'? He felt bad for how he'd speak about his actual friends.

"So you're telling me," Leone started as he watched (Y/n) for any sign of a lie, one hand pushing himself forward using the dashboard as leverage while the other held the headrest on (Y/n)'s seat. "You've never looked at Bruno and thought about him? Because you talked about him like he was some kind of ethereal being." Abbacchio seen him nervously shift in his seat, his free hand coming up to rub his neck while he chuckled and glanced at the white haired male.

"I guess I did go a little overboard. But I never had a friend like him before! Formaggio was an asshole and Bruno's a saint in comparison." (Y/n) countered as he took the next exit to get off the highway, turning slightly making Leone lean back in his seat and stay there. "I'm not gay or homosexual. I wouldn't be disgusted if someone told me they were, if anything I'd support them, but that's not me." He didn't look away from the road ahead of him as he said it, too afraid to think about what he might've said if he would've looked at Abbacchio.

He could tell that Leone thought he was lying, he probably was because this whole thing was making him rethink everything, and he didn't want to make it worse by showing him any sign of a lie.

Abbacchio frowned at how he didn't even look at him when he said it, he was sure now that (Y/n) had doubts about himself. "Fine." He mumbled as he examined the other's face and body, trying to think of anyone else that could've been subjected to (Y/n)'s hormonal imagination. There was himself, they spent some time together last year but was that enough to spark something between them?

(Y/n) did stay the night at his house after he almost died in the Upside Down and he made that dumb joke that was unusual for him. He also talked about the nightmares that they were both having and (Y/n) cared enough to not only say that his parents would've been proud of him not drinking but save him more than once.

The driver filled with relief when the interrogation ended, his shoulders releasing the tension that made them stiff before Abbacchio suddenly spoke again. "Have you ever thought about me?" He asked and (Y/n) almost stopped the car in surprise, his eyes darting to Leone only to find him staring at him as his head rested on his fist, his elbow leaning on the door. He had a small smirk on his face, as if he already knew the answer to the question, but (Y/n) refused to respond even though what he would say was the truth.
