[Separate Ways]

His foot kicked a small pebble that bounced when it collided with a lip in the cement as he walked down the sidewalk, a frown on his face while his hands were in his jean pockets. He acted like such an asshole, so much that even Bruno gave him a disappointed look that he usually only got from his dad when he'd come home with another god awful grade. (Y/n) bit the inside of his cheek as he sulked his way towards Melvald's to buy some cheap snacks that'll be gone by tomorrow.
He was starting to regret not taking his car, not only would it have been faster but he wouldn't be walking against the chilly wind. It wasn't even December yet and the weather report was already calling for snow by the end of the week. (Y/n) sighed in relief when the sign entered his line of sight and he jogged to get to the door, holding it open for a woman then entering as well.
(Y/n) easily found the shelves filled with junk food and scanned them after grabbing a stray basket that someone left in the aisle. He wasn't picky on what he got so he opted for grabbing random things and dropping them into the basket then headed for the cash to pay for everything with one hand already in his pocket trying to grab his wallet.
He placed his basket on the counter and pulled out a few bills from his freed wallet before shoving it back in his jeans, his eyes being drawn to the shiny, silver zippo lighters on display. (Y/n)'s fingers wrapped around one and picked it up, flicking it open and the spark igniting a flame that went out when he closed the top down over it. He glanced at his things and then back to the lighters before placing the one in his hand on the counter and adding another beside it.
"Do you collect lighters or smoke a lot?" A voice chuckled and the teen looked up at the cashier from where he was counting the cash in his hands. The brown haired woman ringing up his items waved one of the lighters while a small smile was on her face, her hand gently placing the item in a bag that had his snacks in it.
(Y/n)'s eyes wandered down to the name tag on her shirt, the name Mela written on the white sticker that was placed on the plastic. She's the mother of that kid who went missing a few days ago, Narancia Ghirga? (Y/n) was pretty that was the kid's name but he wouldn't count on it. He was shocked to see the woman here when her child was missing but he guessed that losing your kid wouldn't help pay your bills.
"Something like that." He replied before taking the two bags that he was being handed with a small frown on his face. "Have a good day!" (Y/n) called as he walked out the door, just hearing the one he got back from the cashier before the door closed behind him. The teen shivered when a burst of cold air hit him and his body shook, a noise leaving him from the exposure. He made it to the corner of the street before a thought popped into his head from when his mind had wandered during the night at Bruno's.
This monster didn't appear in Hawkins until the boy went missing, which makes it safe to assume that the thing either ate him or took him somewhere. It stayed within a certain area and that was loosely around (Y/n)'s and Abbacchio's homes, he'd need a map to make a clear estimate but based on what he's heard about the Ghirga's, they didn't have as much money as he did or even Bruno's family and that usually meant you lived near the woods where there wasn't as much of the town's population.
(Y/n) nearly dropped his bags as he ran back to Melvald's at full speed, an alarmed look on his face from what could be waiting for Mrs. Ghirga at home. There was something in this place that didn't belong and he had a feeling that she knew what he was going to tell her. This couldn't be a coincidence and he wasn't hallucinating, both Bruno and Abbacchio seen it yesterday in that, now cursed, forest.
