Chapter 38

Josh's P.O.V

"What happened back there?" I hear Austin's voice from George's phone who has him on speaker since I'm driving right now.

I made sure she got home safe. She left with Robert but we have been through so much not to trust her love.

A few months ago I was literally nothing. I was just that boy who got mixed with bad people in order to revenge for his father and then I fell in love with an innocent girl who loves me purely even after knowing who I am. Just to know she's the daughter of the man who killed my father. And look at me now; I'm willing to die in order to protect her and her father. Because I know it will break her if she loses him.

"One of his men had her phone with him so he tried talking to her." I tell him keeping my eyes on the road.

"How the hell did he get it?" Austin asks worried. "I have no idea I asked Zack to keep an eye on her only while I take care of Sasha. Just to come to find one of them talking to her. It's unbelievable." I tell him angrily while George is holding the phone.

"I saw him and I didn't think they'd dare to talk to her in front of everyone." Zack explains through the phone. He is with Austin I suppose and he also has his phone on speaker.

"You got her phone?" George asks bringing the phone to his mouth. "Yes, it's with me. She didn't mind me taking it." He says through the phone.

"Take out the sim card and make sure to delete it." I tell him which comes out more as an order.

"They didn't know her name." I tell him after a few seconds parking the car wherever we are. "What?" I hear Austin asking and I can feel the

surprised look on George's face.

"He sent them for her." I start knowing what I'm about to say is my biggest fear.

"He knows me too well; he knows I wouldn't stop at any price to take my dad's revenge. And the only way to break me is by killing the only thing that's left for me but what he doesn't know that she's his daughter." I tell them breaking whatever that's left of me.

"She has to know man. He has to know that she's his daughter." George says and I wouldn't give up on her for anything. Not now, not now that she became a part of me.

"Fuck no. I'll die before that happens." I stubbornly say. "It's a matter of time before he realizes it's his daughter. If he knows he won't hurt her." Austin says.

I know, I know that but then she wouldn't be mine.

"I will protect her." I stubbornly tell him starting the car and driving as fast as I'm allowed to. "You realize what he's fucking capable of." Austin says angrily." Well, I'm capable of much more." I tell him keeping my eyes focused on the road.

"He's her father you won't hurt him. She'll hate you." Austin snaps and I take the phone from George's hand and hang up.
