Chapter 3

"So, what do you have for tonight?" George asks as soon as he sits next to me which makes me jump.

It has been a week since we have moved here. Some days were okay others were really good but there were no bad days. I spent every night talking to John which made me really happy; knowing that distance didn't come between us.

And my friendship with George and Chloe grew stronger.

"Nothing why?" I smile looking back at him before the teacher enters. "What do you think of going to a party with me, tonight?" He asks which makes me laugh since I've never been to a party. Well, I have with my mother but they were the kind of parties that only fancy people attended.

"You know, you could meet a lot of people there and you will be safe as long you are with me." He tells me once I don't say anything.

"Yeah, sounds fun." I agree. "Great, I'll text you the address." He says gently drumming on the desk and I give him my phone number as he gives me his before the teacher comes in.

The rest of the day passes slowly until the last class' bell rings. Everything went by normally, I've spent the break with Chloe and George and had the English class with George and Chloe in the front.

I go to my room after washing the dishes and open the closet looking for something to wear. I told my parents about the party and they were more excited than I; as the thought of making friends and fitting in was worrying them for a while now.

They never said anything to me but it has always been obvious to me; even while growing up as a kid.

I sigh once I don't find anything to wear but my eyes fall on a light pink dress that I had for a while.

You see, I have lots of dresses from the occasions and the events my mother goes to; which she forces me to go with her since all of her friends bring their daughters along.

It has been like this for a while but I never actually minded.

I put on the dress that I decided to wear which is a simple dress with an open back that is shaped as a heart. It's not too fancy neither too simple.

I straighten my hair which takes me fifteen minutes, put on a little bit of mascara and wear white heels.

By the time I finish getting ready, George texts me the address which I have no idea where it is; therefore, my father is going to give me a ride.

"Where's mom?" I ask him as soon as I go downstairs.

"She has a meeting with some of her old friends." He tells me standing and turning off the TV.

"Okay." I softly nod." Come on, you look nice." He gently says opening the front door for me.

I get in the car and show him the address to where it is before he starts the car.

"Now, you should be careful. It's not going to be one of those fancy parties you go to with your mother." He cautiously says keeping his eyes on the road.

"Yeah, okay." I nod in agreement. "Plus if anything happens, call me and I will immediately pick you up." He says in a higher tone.

"Don't worry, I will." I reassure him as I look through the window.

It's dark outside since it nine o'clock and the streets are more crowded than ever.

"That should be it." He says stopping the car in front of a big house." Yeah, okay." I mumble.

I take a deep breath before I get out of the car and say goodbye to him. I cross the street and turn around to wave goodbye to my father before he starts the car once again and leaves.

It's chilly outside but I'd rather to stay outside than to enter the crowded house.

I get in after I pick up my courage to find the place is way too crowded with unfamiliar faces that I can barely step a foot in the house while wild music are being played.

"Hey, there." I hear someone saying and relief fills in once I find George. "Hey." I greet back.

"You look lovely." He shouts through the noise with a smile on his lips. "Thank you." I say shouting back which makes him smile even more.

"Come on, let's find the others." He shouts in my ear so that I would hear him over this music and I nod. He takes my hand leading the way through the crowd and I follow him.

We walk by a few people wearing swimsuits telling me there is a pool here somewhere.

"Here." He says stopping in a less crowded place.

I don't recognize anyone but Sasha who is sitting on one of the couches in which I believe is the living room. She has been very mean to me in the past few weeks but ignoring her was the only choice I've had. I kept on ignoring her threatening stares and her mean remarks.

I sit on the couch next to George and right in front of her. "Does anyone want anything to drink?" George asks. "No, we are fine." Sasha answers him once I shake my head.

"So, do you like it here?" Sasha asks smiling at me which surprises me. "Ye..." I start but get interrupted by someone shouting.

"We are here." A boy shouts enthusiastically and I turn to find a brown-headed boy with Josh and another boy; both are walking behind him.

The brown-headed boy gently bows to kiss Sasha on the cheeks before he turns to me.

"Hey." He says shaking my hand. "I'm Austin." He says with an obvious smirk on his face and a challenging look while the others are still standing

"Drop it man. You don't have to be an asshole every day, you know." George says standing and his smirks reappears.

"I'll be right back." George tells me grabbing him and disappears in the crowd with the rest leaving me with no one but Sasha

I haven't seen Josh the entire week; he only attended a few classes but that didn't stop him from being as cruel as Sasha is. I remember asking him for help in math class since he was the only one I knew but he made me feel like crap by ignoring me. And he used to walk away every time he saw me walking to George and him.

I know that he doesn't like me and I'm okay with it.

"Want some water?" Sasha asks handing me a red cup before I could answer her. I smell the liquid in it reassuring it's just water before I drink it.

I don't know the reason for her sudden goodness but I'm glad she is good to me.

"I'll be right back, you can find me in the kitchen." She says smiling at me before she disappears.

It takes me a few minutes till my head starts pounding and everything becomes much louder than before.

"This wasn't water." I say to myself trying to stand hoping George would come in.

My feet somehow are able to lift me up from the couch as I walk through the crowd hoping that everyone would just shut up.

I climb up the stairs and open a few bedroom doors before I finally find an empty one. I close the door behind me and sit on bed without turning any lights on as I try to call my dad.
