Chapter 35

Michelle's P.O.V

"Am I weird for being so excited for Christmas already?" Chloe asks. "Since when have you been normal?" Austin jokes and she rolls her eyes at him.

"It's not your fault; today they are setting the Christmas lights downtown. "George tells her. "Right, we have to go just like last year. It's our tradition to go together remember?" She begs George.

"Yeah, okay. I've got nothing." George nods looking at Austin and Zack and they both agree to go.

"Michelle, you're coming too and you're bringing Robert. It's going to be so much fun I promise." She says cheerfully.

I'm letting you go, if he makes you happy, I'm happy too...

His words echo and I immediately nod. "Okay." I agree forcing a smile. "Perfect." She says smiling back at me. "Will Josh be okay seeing you with someone else? Especially Robert. "Austin whispers to me since I'm sitting next to him in the cafeteria.

"He wouldn't mind, I'm sure." I smile at him and this time it hurts more. It hurts more telling someone he doesn't care. As if it doesn't hurt enough admitting it to myself.

...

"I'll text you the details, okay?" Chloe tells me before leaving the car. "Okay. I'll see you today." I tell her through the window.

"What are you two doing today?" My mother asks starting the car once again. "We are going downtown. I'm thinking of telling Robert." I tell her. "Do you have his number?" She asks reminding me that I don't. Maybe it would be a good excuse to just not tell him.

"No." I answer her shaking my head. "Luckily I do." She says and winks at me. "Great mom. You've got his number and I don't." I tell her laughing. "Well, someone is jealous." She says stopping the car once we reach the house.

"I'm not." I say smiling and leave the car. I would never be jealous for anyone but him.

...

"I have nothing to wear; it's freezing outside." Chloe shouts from her room once I enter her house.

"That's how she greets." Her mother says and we both laugh. "Come on in." She says and leads the way to Chloe's room which is upstairs.

"Do you girls want anything to drink?" She kindly offers and I shake my hand and sit on Chloe's bed which is full of her clothes.

"No." Chloe tells her looking at herself in the mirror. She is wearing a light skinny jeans which fits her perfectly with a light pink sweater since it's really cold outside.

"Tell me if you need anything." Her mother says before leaving and closing the door behind her.

"It looks really good on you." I tell her referring to her skinny jeans.

"It doesn't make me look fat?" She asks me taking another look at herself in the mirror.

"No." I immediately tell her and she finally moves away from the mirror.

"Are you going to meet Robert there?" She asks sitting next to me. "Yes, he told me he's coming. I just have to call him to see where he is." I tell her checking my phone for any messages.

"Great since it's going to be you, him, Josh, Sasha, George and I." She tells me and my heart sinks but I just pretend to be staring at my phone and just nod hoping that he is not going to be there with her even though this sounds so selfish.

"How are we going there?" I ask finally looking away from my phone." George should be here any minute." She tells me trying to reach out for her phone and before I say anything my phone starts buzzing.

I immediately look at my screen and it reveals my mother's phone number. "Hey, I'm still at Chloe's house." I tell her once I pick up knowing that's what she wants to know.

"Michelle, Robert is here. He is on his way to pick you up." She gently tells me. "Oh, okay." I tell her and she hangs up. "Robert is coming here to pick us up. I was supposed to meet him there." I say standing.

"It's okay. I'll just tell George we will meet him there." She says taking her phone and starts typing.

"Josh is already on his way." She reads the message to me and my eyes widen and fear fills in. I pray that he isn't here already and I realize my prayers aren't answered once we hear the doorbell.

"Come on." Chloe says taking her jacket and rushes downstairs reminding me I forgot to bring a jacket. I slowly follow her hoping not to see him. But his voice is filling the house while gently talking to her mother.

"Hey." I hear Chloe's cheerful voice once she sees him. "Hey." He greets her back.

"Where is Sasha?" Chloe asks him before I reach downstairs. "She is in the car." He tells her and my heart drops.

"Hey." I softly greet and ignore looking him in the eye. "Hey." He says with a small smile.

"Are you two ready?" He asks looking at me. "She is going there with Robert." Chloe tells him and my phone buzzes saving me from the pain.

"He is here." I tell her opening the front door to see his car parked behind Josh's.

"I will see you there then." Chloe tells me smiling. "Yeah, I'll see you." I say looking at him before leaving the house.

I walk to where Robert's car is parked and regret not bringing a jacket. "Hi." He greets opening the passenger's door. "Hey." I greet back getting in.

"Michelle, I'm really sorry for kissing you the other day." He starts and I immediately shake my head assuring him it was okay.

"It was so selfish of me to do so. I knew you were feeling pain because of him and I made it even worse." He tells me and I don't say anything knowing he's right.

I watch Chloe while she gets in his car in the back seat knowing that Sasha is sitting next to him.

"That's him?" He asks interrupting the jealousy that was filling me. "What?" I ask looking at him. "Is that him?" He asks me again careful of what to say.

"Yeah, it's him." I say nodding and watch him driving away. "I didn't know he was coming." I start explaining but he interrupts me by shaking his head.

"You don't have to explain to me anything. I know you love him. I'm just sorry for coming; you must have wanted to be there not here." He kindly says realizing how good Robert is.

"No." I shake my head smiling. "I... I ended everything with him for good. He just wants to hurt me. He came with the girl I saw him kissing. He wasn't supposed to come." I tell him looking everywhere but at him.

"We don't have to go there if you don't want to." He tells me in understanding. "No, I want to." I say looking at him.

"Okay." He smiles starting the car.
