Chapter 21
Michelle's P.O.V
"Darling, we're here. Open your eyes please." I hear my mother's voice begging once I wake up. I open my eyes and blink a few times to clear the blurry vision.
I find myself in a small white room that is so pale and makes me feel as if I'm dying even though I'm not.
"Hey." I manage to say and it comes out more as a whisper. "She is awake." She shouts. "How are you feeling? Does it hurt you? Are you feeling any pain?" She starts asking me.
And I realize what she means with pain once I look at my arm to find it full of stitches. But it's not a physical pain that I'm feeling mother; it's something else. Something hurts more.
"I'm fine." I lie trying not to cry remembering what happened and I'm afraid of knowing the answer of what happened to Josh. It would kill me to know that he isn't okay, that he isn't here, that he isn't alive.
"How long have I been here?" I ask my mother. "Two days. John is here and the others. But only one is allowed to come in." She tells me with a small smile on her face and my eyes widen once I hear his name.
John? I haven't seen him for ages neither talked to him that much..
"Do you want me to call him in?" She asks still the smile on her face. "Who else is there?" I ask her. "Chloe, George and other two that I haven't recognized." She tells me.
"How do they look like? The other two?" I ask hoping that one of them would be Josh. "Michelle are you okay?" She asks looking worried.
No, I'm not. "Yes, mom." I say forcing a smile which soon fades. "Mom, could you... could you tell George that I want to see him?" I ask holding her hand.
"Sure, I will." She says and leaves the room closing the door behind her.
I take a look at my arm for a few seconds then look away not wanting to remember what and who caused it. It looks awful but it's numb I can't feel the pain knowing that it's drugged.
The door opens after a few minutes and it's George. He gets in without saying a word and sits next to the bed.
We both stay silent for a few minutes staring at both of my hands and every second is killing me not knowing if he's okay.
"Is he... alive?" I ask without looking at him. "He is... He is fine." He answers me and hearing those words that I thought I would never hear made me fine.
"Michelle, I'm sorry we are like this." He says after a few seconds looking at me. "None of you is bad. Josh isn't." I say looking at him and he doesn't say anything knowing that there's something worrying him.
He seems different. He isn't as cheerful as I've always known him; he has no glow in his eyes neither any happiness on his lips.
"The police is here ... and they are investigating." He tells me knowing what he is asking me for. "I would never do that to any of you." I say reassuring him and a small smile appears on his lips. "George, you helped me and he saved me." I say hoping that he could see the good in him but he doesn't say anything.
"Is he here?" I ask after a few seconds looking at him. "No." He answers looking back at me. "Did he ever come?" I ask knowing his cruelty. "No" He answers looking away.
"He loves you, you know? No matter what he does make sure that it's because of that." He tells me.
"Then why he isn't here?" I ask him but he doesn't say anything.
"Chloe couldn't stop crying." He says with a small smile on his face. He surely likes her and she is lucky. "And I'm sure you comforted her." I tease and he blushes smiling knowing how much I miss his smile.
"She is lucky George." I tell him." I don't want her to get hurt because of me." He says and I could see the sadness behind his eyes knowing that this is the reason.
I don't say anything back to him because I also don't want her to get hurt.
"Do you want me to bring you anything?" He asks standing." No, I'm fine. Could you tell John to come in?" I ask him and he nods.
"George, thank you." I tell him and he gives me one of his bright smiles before he leaves.
"Hey." I hear John's voice once he comes in. "Hey." I say sitting on the right side of the white bed. "How are you?" He says getting closer. "I'm okay." I say with a small smile trying to control my tears. "I leave you for a while to find you kidnapped." He says smiling and I smile back which epically fails once I start shedding tears. "Hey, it's okay. Come here." He says hugging me and I bury my head into his shoulder crying.
"You know that I'll always be here for you." He whispers into my ear. "I know." I say and pull away once I am able to control my tears again.
"I miss us." I tell him and he smiles." I miss us too." He says placing a kiss on my forehead.
A knock on the door interrupts and I turn to see the doctor and my parents are behind him. "The visiting hours are over. You need some rest." He says and I look over at John to see him as disappointed as I am.
"Are you staying?" I ask him. "For another week." He tells me and I give him a long hug before he leaves.
"How do you feel?" The doctor asks touching my arm where the stitches are. "It's numb. I feel nothing." I answer him and he nods.
After a few tests he leaves the room and I say goodnight to my parents wondering where they are going to sleep and by the time I fall asleep it's 10 pm.
