The ferry dipped hard for a moment, causing my stomach to turn. Tiny droplets of sea water flew into my face, though I could hardly feel it. Nevertheless, I gripped the barrier of the balcony tighter.

This was my first time on a boat, and while I had gotten used to it as time went on, I still didn't quite have my nerves under control every time the boat went over a wave, which was a little too often for my liking.

Still, uneasiness wasn't the only thing on my mind. I was also extremely excited. That feeling only grew once the giant green mass of land began to appear on the horizon. At last, I was so close now. I had spent so long staring at fossils and diorama's, wondering what they must have been like when they were alive, dreaming that one day, I would be able to come here and finally see them for myself.

Now I here I was, by pure chance. I was truly in for a once in a lifetime experience.

Of course, it wasn't just me here on this boat. Behind me, on the seating area, there were other people here too, five in total, all looking to be around the same age as me. They were all keeping to themselves, some more than others. However, there was one kid who looked just as excited as I was, he too, was leaning on the railing, watching the island grow ever closer with a giant smile on his face. The thought of talking to him had crossed my mind, but I didn't want to annoy him, so I kept quiet.

After some time, the ferry finally began to slow as it pulled up to a dock. Once it had stopped, there was a moment of waiting as the ramp came down and the boat was tied into place, then, the five other kids and myself stepped out of the ferry, suitcases in tow. We hadn't made it far before a man in a bright red shirt with the park logo on it, beige shorts and a yellow bandana tied around his head, called over to us.

"Campers over here, please. Just line up, thank you very much". Once we were all in position, the man took a dramatic breath and began a clearly rehearsed speech. "Welcome to Isla Nublar, campers", he said, walking the length of the small crowd we had formed. "You are the selected few, the first out of the entire world, to ever experience the awesomeness that is Camp Cretaceous. Now I know that the ferry ride was rough on some of you". His head turned from the group off to the side of the dock and nodded to someone. "Hello Ben," he said pointedly.

I turned to see who he was looking at, and found one of the kids had strayed from the group and was now kneeling over the side of the dock, looking like he was about to hurl, he managed a thumbs up and a weak smile before bending over the side of the dock again. "But you made it," the man said enthusiastically. He pointed to his chest with a proud smile. "I am Dave, head counsellor, that's right, you heard me correctly, head honcho, big shot...".

While Dave was looking for other worlds to describe his status, we heard an engine gradually growing louder, we looked past Dave to see what the noise was. Heading in our direction, was a Jeep with an insignia on its doors, displaying a Tyrannosaurus skeleton standing over a forest, the words Camp Cretaceous were written in large black and red letters on the insignia. It pulled up near us and a woman with long black hair stepped out, she had the same attire as Dave excluding the yellow bandana. "Oh, so sorry I'm late, welcome campers", she said "I'm Roxie, head counsellor of Camp Cretaceous ".

Every one of us turned our heads back to Dave with confused expressions.

"Well, it's more like co-head counsellor," he said with nervous laughter, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Is it?" Roxie questioned pointedly, eyeing him with a raised brow.

"Now," Dave said, suddenly eager to get back to business. "Some of you won competitions to be here, others got VIP invites, but for the next two weeks all of you will be getting the five star treatment".
