Max stared at the wreckage of the park, taking on the pure destruction the Dinosaur had left in its wake. Most of the caravans still sat perfectly fine, though there was one that had been completely flattened. As the DPW patrolled the forest, the police questioned the other witnesses, while the medics patched up the family that had been involved in the incident. Somehow, none of them had been badly hurt.
That would be a first.
Max waited until nobody was looking, then he dashed forward, threw his hood over his head and walked into the bustling crowd. He stopped next to a caravan, where a police woman was questioning a man. "And this was before the Dinosaur collapsed the caravan?" She asked.
The man nodded. "Yes, ma'am. The little girl escaped through the window and took my crossbow. Once that thing was about to kill them, she shot it right below the eye. The Dinosaur animal ran off after that!"
"Do you remember which way it went?" She asked.
The nodded and pointed behind him. "Up past the big rock, that's the closest exit to the forest".
The police woman nodded and spoke into her radio. "Notify the DPW, the Allosaurus might be looking to escape the forest. It's headed in the direction of Cormorent".
Max had heard everything he needed to. "Cormorent, that's where I need to go," he said to himself, pushing off the caravan and promptly striding away, keeping his head low to avoid attention. Unfortunately, this meant he wasn't able to see a small shape run up to him and nearly collide with him.
It was a young girl, with long, curly black hair and dark skin. She was covered in several small scratches along her face and arms, but other than that, she seemed fine.
Max patted her shoulder and knelt down in front of her. "Sorry about that," he smiled. "Are you okay?" He quickly came to the conclusion that this girl must be a part of the family that had been attacked. He wasn't going to tell her how lucky she was to still be here.
"Yeah, I'm good," the girl replied, her response not matching her tone.
Max looked down in thought for a moment before he smiled again. "I head you shot the Allosaurus. That was very brave of you".
The girls smile immediately brightened, but nor for the reason Max had thought. "Yeah, finally. Someone else gets it. Everyone's just been calling it a T-rex or something, but its not! It was an Allosaurus, that's what I keep telling everyone, but they don't care".
Max scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Adults, am I right? Never see what's blatantly in front of them. I mean, come on. The horns, the thick snout, the long arms. How could it not be an Allosaurus!"
"I know!" The girl replied, her grin now as wide as it could possibly be. "You like dinosaurs too?"
"Like them? I love them," Max replied.
The girl tilted her head as she inspected his face. Max's smile instantly vanished. "Hey, you look familiar...". Her eyes widened. "Oh, you're that boy who can talk to Dinosaurs!" She suddenly stopped as she looked down. "Sorry, but my dad said if I ever saw you, I wasn't allowed to talk to you...". Then she shook her head and smiled again. "But I don't care. What do they say? What do they think? Can you tell me? Please?"
Max's mouth dropped open in shock at the girls attitude. He half expected her to run off, but instead she was asking him questions. This was a far cry from anything he had experienced in his time along.
Suddenly a voice called out. The girl turned and saw a man waving her over, a woman with a child standing next to her with another baby in her arms. The girl turned back and huffed. "Sorry, my parents are calling me".
