"I'm annoyed"
"You're always annoyed"
I rolled my eyes at his reflex of a response, my brother, always with the quick wit.
"I'm especially annoyed at you, I don't understand this affinity you have with the war."
"You don't need to understand it, just entertain it" he smirked at me as he turned his head to look at me from the front of the carriage.
I grunted at him in response and he laughed, he was never intimidated by me but neither was I of him. I didn't say a word the rest of the ride to the war camp, today he was enlisting in the army to defend the north, I of course wanting my brother's to stay out of as much trouble as possible decided to join with them but I knew the battle to get on the field would be much more than the actual war we were fighting in.
"And you Victor, why so quiet?" I asked my oldest brother expecting him to just growl at me but instead I got a different response then what I was used to.
"I just love the sound of your voice bean"
I knew he was being sarcastic but any response that wasn't just an evil glare was taken as endearing, especially since he used the all too familiar nickname that James used more often than not.
"You're getting soft brother." I heard James speak up but that just earned him a jab from the older of the two.
"Hey, enough of that, save it for the war." I said with some excitement, revealing that I was more intrigued by the war then annoyed by it.
The carriage came to a sudden stop and I took a peek outside the window, men were all I saw, not a single woman in the whole lot of them but I didn't care, there was no way in hell I was going to let my brother's have all the fun.
"Are you sure you want to do this Julia?" James asked as we approached the registration desk but all I did was nod, there was no part of me that didn't want this.
It was almost my turn at the desk and all eyes were on me, everyone was either intrigued or disgusted by the fact that a woman was even here.
"Next!"
I stood in front of the desk and what I assumed to be a General of some sort and from the looks of him they appeared to need all the help they could get.
"Julianna Howlett, age twenty-three, in perfect health and very proficient with a rifle-"
"No, next!" the General cut me off, my brother's gave me a wide-eyed look as a warning to not lose my temper but they knew better.
"You're going to regret that."
I went up to the desk and grabbed the man by the back of his head and tilted it upwards, I heard the gun's cock but I knew they couldn't hurt me so I pulled on the General's head even harder.
"I wouldn't do that" I saw James in the corner of my eye grab one of the gun's from the soldier and I saw Victor go for the other.
"Now that I have your attention, as I was saying, you're going to allow me to fight for the north or I rip your throat out, your call."
The General squirmed in my grasp but couldn't get out of it to save his life, the shock mixed with the pain of my grabbing him by the hair had really rendered him speechless but finally he managed a nod.
"Good choice."
I let him go and heard both of my brothers take a deep breath in relief, I smirked at their reactions and began my walk to the quarters.
