2018- Avenger's Compound (Post-snap)

I stood there looking at the transmitter Fury had left behind when he got dusted like it would bring Wanda back. Natasha kept saying that it was Fury's last act and it was vital so I watched it with Sam who was the only person I was really talking to.

Half the world was gone; along with Wanda, I had felt a whole lot of nothing since she disappeared. Like a part of me was gone and there was no way of getting it back. I had never felt so empty in my entire life. I heard Sam enter the room but he didn't say anything which I appreciated. Today wasn't a good day, not like any days were good but today especially it wasn't because whatever the hell that transmitter was doing it stopped doing it.

"Did you tell the others?" I asked Sam, referring to the transmitter.

"Yeah, they want us in the main room." Sam said and I nodded.

I exited the lab and followed Sam to where Natasha and Steve were. I walked in and they were looking at the hologram wall which had the count of people that had been 'blipped' away as we were calling it. The numbers were extremely high, I couldn't help but think; why not me?

"This is a nightmare." Steve commented as he watched the numbers continue to go up rapidly.

"I've had better nightmares." I spoke up for what felt like the first time since we got back.

"The signal on that thing crapped out." I said again and everyone turned to go to the lab where the transmitter was.

"I thought we bypassed the battery?" Steve asked.

"We did. It's still plugged in, it just stopped." Rhodey explained to Natasha and Steve.

"Reboot it, send the signal again." Steve requested.

"We don't even know what that thing is." Bruce said, trying to find a point to them fixing the transmitter. I found myself not caring, if it couldn't bring Wanda back to me I didn't want to bother and I knew it was selfish but once again giving a shit was hard these days.

"Fury did though. Get it back up and running and let me know when it acts up again, I want to know who's on the other side of that thing." Natasha said, turning back to me and her eyes widened.

"What?" I asked and she pointed behind me.

I turned around to be met with a rather scary looking blonde woman, is this who Fury contacted?

"Where's Fury?" she asked and I was correct. It had to be her.

"And you are?" I asked.

"Carol Danvers, now where's Fury?" she said again and I didn't want to tell her so I turned around to Natasha.

"Who wants to tell her?" I asked while looking back at everyone and I rolled my eyes.

I exited the room and walked over to my quarters. I opened the door and laid on my bed but faced away from the window and the other side of the bed where Wanda used to sleep. I was so broken, I couldn't focus on anything. My thoughts were interrupted by a knock and I groaned.

"What?" I questioned and Sam came into the room.

"How are you feeling?" he asked but he wasn't referring to my well-being, he was referring to the new abilities I've gained.

"You mean am I angry enough for my eyes to glow red and a kinetic energy pulse to exude out of my body every time something hits me? Nah, not yet." I said sarcastically.

When we got back to the compound Bruce had run some tests on me and he concluded that whenever I took an impact my body absorbed it and I could exude it through a kinetic energy pulse by just hitting an inanimate object. The more contact I took, the bigger the pulse, it was actually quite simple and I would've thought it was cool if the person I loved and half the world weren't gone.
