2024- Wakanda: New Years Eve (Approx. 5 months later)"You're not seriously throwing a party are you?" I asked T'Challa as I threw a punch at him and he dodged it.
"Yes I am and you're telegraphing your punches." T'Challa retaliated by kneeing me in the abdomen.
"Cheap shot." I groaned.
"Only because you are not focused, why are you so concerned about the party?" T'Challa asked, taking a pause on the training for a moment.
"I don't know, it's been a while since I did anything like that and the last time I did, it was with Wanda." I said, sadness clearly coating my words.
"You do not have to come, you know? Even though I would really like it if you did." T'Challa patted my shoulder lightly.
"I accidentally promised Shuri I would."
"Oof, sorry, you cannot disappoint Shuri. She pokes around in your head." T'Challa laughed and I groaned.
"I know." I mumbled.
"Come on, I know it will be bittersweet but you get to see how Wakandians party."
"Yeah, that does sound fun." I grumbled a little because it would be great, if New Years wasn't ruined for me.
"Maybe find a pretty girl to kiss? Not my sister." T'Challa threatened.
"No man, I love Shuri but I am much too old to be barking up that tree. Or any tree for that matter."
"Besides, there's only one woman I would think about kissing." I said as I made eye contact with said woman. T'Challa followed my eyeline and smiled.
"Now that, is a long time coming." T'Challa commented and then left my side as Natasha walked up to me.
"Hey." I said as the beautiful redhead got within earshot and she smiled at me.
"Hey, how was training?"
"Eh, I was distracted, how was your day?" I asked as we walked back to the living quarters to prepare for the night's festivities.
"Good, spent the whole day searching for a dress with Okoye. You're coming right? I don't think we talked about it yet."
"Yeah, I promised Shuri I would and I don't wanna disappoint the woman who pokes around in my head you know?" Natasha laughed and rested a hand on my arm.
"I'm glad she convinced you, I'll see you tonight." Natasha said and leaned up to kiss my cheek before disappearing down the hall to her own room to get ready.
I smiled and turned to my room but before I could a small human blocked my way and I widened my eyes.
"Jesus, Shur, what are you doing?"
"Besides eavesdropping, I came to get you, I have the perfect suit for you to wear tonight. Nakia picked it out." Shuri grabbed my hand and pulled me into her lab where Nakia was waiting for us.
"Ah there you are, we've been looking everywhere for you. Here, try this on." Nakia handed me a suit covered in a black protector so I couldn't see it and I smirked.
"What colour is it?" I asked and she rolled her eyes.
"You'll see. Now go." Nakia pushed me into one of the lab's many examination rooms to change.
I unzipped the bag and pulled the suit out. When my eyes finally met the very finely made suit I smiled widely, it was perfect. I took my clothes off and put the three piece suit on with ease and fixed my tie into place. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. It fit perfectly.
