2016- Somewhere in Quebec
"Wake up, we need to get moving." Wanda patted the side of my leg waking me up.
I groaned a little but sat up anyway. I looked over at Natasha who was waking up as well; did she manage to get some sleep?
"Hey, did you sleep?" I asked and she looked around very confused.
"Yeah I guess I did." I smiled at the revelation.
"I guess I'm magical."
"Yeah, yeah." she said and hit me with her pillow.
Wanda just watched our interaction with a blank expression, grabbed the car keys and went outside.
"I think she's pissed." Natasha commented; no shit.
"Yeah, I'm gonna go talk to her." I got up and followed Wanda out the door and towards the car.
"Wanda" I called out to her but she didn't stop walking.
"Wanda, stop, seriously." I said again but she didn't stop.
"Wanda for god sake stop." I grabbed her arm and she ripped it away from me; a part of me was pretty hurt by the action but I guess she was hurt by me too.
"What, what do you want?"
"I want you to stop being upset with me, I only slept away from you last night because I'm scared!"
"I don't want to hurt you, please don't punish me for that" Wanda's eyes softened for a moment but she turned her head away from me.
"Okay, but you're not going to hurt me. I said it once, I'll say it 100 times, you, will, not, hurt, me." I nodded, she seemed so certain and as much as I wanted to sleep beside her I knew it would be better if I didn't.
Wanda turned away from me again and got inside the car, this time getting in the front seat and I laughed.
"Stubborn." I mumbled before I went back to the office and dropped off the room key.
I got in the car and Natasha was in the backseat already. I started the car and drove hoping that we could make it to Ontario by nightfall and then maybe drive through the night to Manitoba. The closer I got to home though, the more I felt anxious about everything. The three of us didn't talk very much today, I could feel the tension and as much as it bothered me I also revelled in the silence.
I drove for 6 more hours until I grew tired. I didn't want to stop though, we were so close to Manitoba and after that we would only be 2 provinces away from our destination.
"Hey, let me drive." I heard Natasha's voice from behind me and as much as I wanted to say no I knew Natasha driving would be beneficial.
"Okay." I said as I pulled the car over.
Wanda woke up as soon as we stopped and she frantically looked around her.
"Don't worry, Natasha and I are just switching spots." Wanda nodded and went back to sleep.
I got out of the driver's seat and opened the door for Natasha; she smiled at me in thanks and I moved to the backseat but as soon as I touched the handle I went flying back into the road and into oncoming traffic where a car collided with my body.
"OUCH" I said loudly as I rolled to a stop and sat up popping my bones back into place.
"Oh my god are you okay?" I heard the woman who just hit me and I nodded.
"Wanda, what the hell!" I said when both Wanda and Natasha came into my sight.
"It wasn't me!" Wanda cried out and I was now very confused.
"A force literally pushed me away from the car who else could-" I stopped speaking as realization hit me.
"Should I call for an ambulance?"
"NO" we all said in unison and the woman robotically got back in her car and drove off; what the hell, it can't be?
"What is going on?" Natasha questioned.
"I think I know." But before I could elaborate the force picked me up again and threw me into the treeline where I impaled myself on a very sharp branch.
"AHH" I yelled in agonizing pain trying to get myself off the branch but it was no use.
"Hello, Julia." I heard the voice I had been expecting and I groaned.
"Jean" I choked out; except it wasn't Jean entirely, it was the Phoenix using her body.
"You wanna help an old friend out and" I asked, gesturing to the branch but she just laughed.
"What are you doing?" Jean came very close to my face and started choking me but used her telekinesis to do it.
"I can't really answer if you restrict me." I coughed out and she let go.
All of a sudden red wisps of energy took Jean away and flew her further into the treeline. I sighed in relief, thank you Wanda. I then felt my body being lifted off of the branch and placed onto the ground softly.
"Julia!" Wanda exclaimed running to my side followed by Natasha as I felt my wounds heal.
"I'm fine, just had a literal blast from the past." I explained.
"Who is she?" Natasha asked.
"The woman James loved; Jean Grey."
A/N: Sorry, very small filler chapter but next one will be a long one so forgive me.
