"Are you ready?" Shuri asked and I nodded. I didn't really have a choice since it was this or death.

"Hop on." she said, gesturing to her exam table again.

I did what I was told and laid down, I knew I was going to be put under and when I woke up I hopefully wouldn't have any brain damage or loss of memory. I was told after the procedure and after I had recovered from it the Dora Milaje would take me out to the mountains and test the trigger word. I guess the mountains were a safe bet because I was secluded from civilization and the Dora Milaje could easily take me out. Those women were stronger than 10 super soldiers put together.

"Alright take a deep breath." I did so and Shuri put the I.V. in.

I wasn't surprised when the needle didn't break against my skin considering I was extremely weak from the poisoning. It was getting serious, I didn't want to alert anyone except for Shuri but I could feel the poison wrap itself around my heart and it was getting closer and closer to penetrating it. For the first time in my 181 years of life I was afraid of dying, I never thought I could, it was almost humbling to experience this kind of fear, it made me feel human instead of some superhuman freak. It was strange but it felt nice to experience what everyday people do.

"You put her under I swear!" I heard Wanda's voice who appeared to be very angry and I knew she had read someone's mind since I refused to give her any real detail about the procedure.

"Wanda, stop." I said getting up but not being able to go very far because of the I.V.

"No, are you insane? You could lose your memories or worse you could not wake up!" I could tell she was panicking and I didn't blame her which is why I didn't want to tell her in the first place. I kept forgetting how young and volatile she can be when it comes to those she cares about.

"I know!" I said which caused her to stop moving.

"You know?"

"I know." I knew I was in for it now.

"And you didn't tell me?!" Wanda's eyes started to glow red which was alarming because it meant she was losing control.

"Wanda! Stop, look around you, look at what you're doing." I gestured to the room of scientists who looked quite afraid.

"She's not going to hurt you, I promise." I said loudly to try and calm the room down.

I grabbed Wanda's shoulders gently and as I did so the red in her eyes vanished but it was replaced with a sadness I had never seen before.

"It's okay, I know this is scary, I know the prospect of something happening to me is very high but it's either I do this or I die. This is my only hope." I explained, looking her in the eye practically begging for her to understand.

"What do you mean?" her voice was broken and my heart clenched in the moment.

"I can feel the poison reach my heart, I don't have time to do it the safe way, this is my only option because I refuse to get the transplant while I'm still like this."

"You didn't tell me." I swallowed hard and closed my eyes.

"Cause I couldn't break your heart again, I couldn't have you worry about losing me. I'm sorry."

"I-I can't, please-" Wanda tried but Shuri spoke up.

"Wanda you have my word; I will make sure Julia survives." I looked back at her in thanks knowing she couldn't make that promise but took on the burden of it anyway.
