Hola guppies! Here's the chapter where I put all your questions and answer them as best as I can. I've also included commonly asked questions from friends as well as from other shifting journals because I have a feeling they might be asked again.
Q) Why do you want to shift?
A) Well, I've always wanted to be a mer, but I just never knew how to make that become reality. So I looked up and tried some spells but I realised after trying fifty or so different spells, they just don't work. DON'T USE SPELLS TO BECOME A MERPERSON GUYS IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND EFFORT AND THEY DO NOT WORK!!!! When I discovered shifting (thanks Rattemns for telling me about it) I realised this was the best way for it to happen. So basically, I want to shift to reflect my inner mer to the outside.
Q) Is it like in H2O where-?
A) Alrighty niños, I'm gonna quash this myth! When you shift it it NOTHING like in H2O or Mako Mermaids. While they are good shows, the only thing they get right is the fact that merfolk exist. Shifting is done through willpower and you won't transform with a single drop of water touching your skin. HOWEVER....you can experience phantom shifting and mental flares around bodies of water as small as a puddle!
Also you don't get powers with your tail, but you CAN DEVELOP THEM!!
Q) What does physical shifting feel like?
A) From what I've experienced, it's a lot like stretching sore muscles that have that feeling of pins and needles in them. It hurts like un hijo de puta but then feels good once they've been stretched. Other have described it similarly with it feeling like stretching a sore muscle.
Q) How long does it take to shift?
A) There's no set time period for shifting because as I've said before, everyone's experience is unique. For me the shifting process took very little time compared to some people and I have a theory for it but maybe I will add it to a different chapter because it doesn't need to be here. This is a Q&A!
