My Dream

I tried to wrestle myself from the grip of the two hunting mermen, but their grip on my arms was too strong. I had no hope of escaping, so I just swam with them, compliant. Waiting for my chance...

My bag, strapped to my back, felt heavier with every passing minute as my fear slowly set in.

I was growing weary of this long trip but daren't to open my mouth and ask where we were heading. The knives on their belts looked wicked sharp, and could slit my throat with ease. My body could be left for the sharks... I swallowed my saliva buildup and let them take me to wherever we were going.

It felt like hours had passed until we finally came over a rise of coral and anemones. In the distance, was what looked to be a palace or a city. It was teeming with merfolk, all beautiful and graceful, swimming about this city peacefully.

[This is the part of the dream that hasn't continued further from here for many nights...until last night.]

My captors brought me to the city gates where a guard was waiting for me. My captors handed me to the guard who escorted me through the city. I could feel the stares of the merfolk who were wondering the same question "Who is he and why is he here? With a guard nonetheless?"the states sent shivers down my spine but I kept my eyes forward and head high. Whatever I was here for, might as well look good doing it...

In the middle of the city was a palace. It was huge, and heavily guarded. It also looked so familiar, as did the city, as if I've been here before.

I was taken inside the palace and I was sure I was going to be taken to the dungeon or something...Finally, when we stopped at the foot of a staircase, unable to contain myself anymore, words flew out of my mouth before I could stop them. "Why am I here? Why did your lackeys take me? What the fuck is this place? I want answers or this knife," I grabbed the guard's knife and pressed it to his throat, "will become a lovely shade of crimson. I suggest you talk, mate."

The guard chuckled and pointed to a figure coming down the stairs. Yet another merman, however this guy must've been royalty or something. He was clad with jewellery, and he donned a golden shell crown. He had golden bangles on his tail, a few rings on his fingers and a golden chain across his neck. He was clean shaven and on the whole didn't look too shabby, but I was ready to fight him for taking me. I was a loner, and that's how I wanted to stay. Whatever this merman wanted with me, he could find someone else. And I told him as much.

The golden-clad prince huffed a light laugh and spoke. "Dear, Mags...surely you remember your home? Me? What did those land folk do to you to cause such a memory loss?" He swam up to me and brushed my face with his hand. It felt so familiar...

"Surely you remember me, Magnus! Triton, godly commander of the waves, son of Poseidon, god of the sea!" His eyes filled with sadness at my confusion and slight disgust, but as he spoke, memories of this place, the palace, the city, Triton....they all came flooding in, causing me a major headache.

When I awoke from this dream I was screaming silently in pain, crying and clutching my head which was throbbing.

I don't know what to do with this honestly, for the most part the dream was okay, but this ending that has come to light is causing so much pain and for some reason grief as well...

I know and have met Triton frequently here on land as he's one of my deities from the Pantheon I follow and worship so I'm not sure what's happening....

I don't know what's happening, guppies, but I guess I'll find out...

Keep swimming,

Magnus~
